32 MONTHS??? Those nice young men in their clean white coats would be coming to take me away. I ordered mine 5 weeks ago today and it feels like 5 months.

My car got pushed back another day. So now the estimated completion is the 28th. I tell ya this process isn't really as fun the 2nd time around. I went thru this whole process over the summer and when my car arrived it had a ding and it wasn't fixed too well, so they ordered another car for me! At this point, I'm just wondering, what do I have to do to get this car?!?!?!

i'm pretty happy standing exactly where i am. i never said cvt = aisin, nor did i imply it. i simply said i don't like automatics and that my research showed cvt's in general have problems and apparently expensive ones to boot...which a few posts back is where this whole thread started going when someone mentioned an r53 model had clutch and flywheel problems and those problems swore them off manuals for good...well, the only other choice on the r53 was a cvt.

Uh, wrong. The R53 (MCS) did not even have an automatic offered until late 2005-2006, when the Aisin w/paddles was added as an option. MCS never had a CVT. Y're thinking of the R50 (MC), which did have a CVT option in lieu of the equally craptacular Midlands 5 speed junk-box. Many of the loaners I drove while my R53 was shop-bound were R50 CVTs and they were absolutely terrible. This is one reason why BMW ditched the CVT and has offered the more reliable and MUCH better performing Aisin automatic across the model line.

here's a link to a current First Gen CVT thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...68#post2484168

Just setting the record straight here.

welcome man, and here's the best advice:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=144057

Once yr car departs the factory, MINI USA cannot really help until it gets to the VDC. but the above sticky will give U general guidelines and you can always call yr MA to get the most updated information.

Just called, and my newly-birthed car arrived at the Port of Exit early this AM, now *hopefully* he'll be on monday's boat! Woo Hoo!

(to all noobs: dont bother asking M-USA about what boat and when. There's a grey area between arrival at the POE and arrival at VDC when everything is out of their power.)

safe to assume yr car is at the POE wandrur. if indeed the monday boat is PH-bound, that would put our cars there around 10/18, add another few days at VDC (best case scenario) and on a truck bound for Denva around the 22nd, and here by the 27th--exactly 4 weeks after production like my MA said. tack on a few days to get it ready, maybe we WILL have our cars by Halloween! Then for one day I can call it " My Halloweeneemeenee" BOO!

Yep, just called. POE for me, too.

I still think 5k posts is a *bit* of wishful thinking.

WOOHOO!!!! My mini is FINISHED, waiting to get on a ship. I was hoping to get it in time for my birthday (12th) but I would rather have it as a late birthday present than a late Christmas present.

I am almost 100% NY would be WW only. So i guess that would make me like 98% positive, I'm also in NY maybe we will be on the same boat!

now we enter the foggy zone where it's out of our hands, as our cars are subjected to the rough and high seas. I remember my 2005 having to dodge Hurr Ivan, and the OL was soooo out of date that when my MA called to me my car had arrived, OL still had it "in transit." Patience is advised. Yarrrgh matey

yea the OL just plain sucks, in fact for me both times, its been totally useless except for getting my production number (which I got from the file my MA sent me anyways). My status is still on order, yet the car is supposed to finish production tomorrow....i think they might as well just get rid of the OL thing

It does seem pretty freakin' useless if it's not up to date...

Oh, the impatience...

^^^Agreed, mine went into production on Wed and now (3 days later) it still just shows on order and doesn't show the VIN and the details for the order are still blank.

yeah it's almost like we're too connected--yet the connection is slow. OL is pretty much useless once the car is built and shipped, for yr MA (if he/she is worth a damn) will advise you when it has hit VDC.

hey only 4,803 to go wandrur. keep posting

Reading Plato? Voluntarily or at gun point? Yeah, I'm killing time on NAM myself.
