I'm sure there have been others who have been blocked! As for me, I don't get mad, I just make pathetic whimpering sounds. I'll annoy them into building my Clubman!

Sigh, no build date yet. They do insist that I am still Week 36, which is strange. One customer rep even said that I should keep in mind that a Week 36 build doesn't necessarily mean they'll start on Monday 9/1. Aiiyeee, don't tell me that!!

Anyway, I have chosen to believe that all of this delay is because the workers are psyching themselves up to build "the most awesome-est CR base Clubman ever". So everyone smile and nod and play along with this delusion, okay? Pleeeease? Like this:

Yes, we're in extreme denial here.

The OL still doesn't list a build date for me either, but my MA wrote yesterday saying they're estimating it will start on the 5th. So close, and yet so far...

Hey dude if you truly are a 36 build yor car was started by now and maybe
your just not in the computer or you got bumped and yours is in body shop now for a 37 week in any case Im positive that the car is worth the wait! I guess none of us are sure how the system works seems like they came in the middle and parted the sea some got moved up and some got moved back. In any case hey at look at it this way they had a week to get the bugs out of the system and your car might have less problems then mine. BESt OF LUCK
KEEP US INFORMED HOW YOU MAKE OUT!

The person at Ask Mini swears I am a week 36 build but does not have a start date other than sometime this coming week with completion sometime the 2nd week of September. No VIN yet either. They said the build week # is the week they start production of your car. All the ones that were week 36's and already in production are part of a group they were able to start earlier. Still considered week 36 as that is the first week for 09's even though they may have started in week 35. This is what I was told.

Hmmm, sounds like the right hand does not know what the left hand is saying and vice versa.

Build dates may be completion dates, but your "week" is determined by the date on which production is started - according to ASK MINI. Therefore, week 36ers can have cars that end production in week 37 - as late as Saturday of next week, according to ASK MINI.

This makes sense for my situation.

I've had it explained both ways, as start and completion week. Hmmm. I think what we've been seeing with Week 36 in particular was caused by several factors, including the new build year on some models and the Oxford plant's decision to start some builds ahead of schedule (according to the grapevine). The result was a confusing shuffling of build schedules, of lots of people getting bumped forward by 2 weeks and backward by 3 weeks and shoehorned in for a build "tomorrow" (those lucky so-and-sos whose dealers could leapfrog them over others waiting weeks -- hey, fair play to you! ), that in my admittedly brief time on NAM I haven't seen before. Weeks 37 to 40 show similar uncertainty about just when builds start, and people wondering whether their build date will get moved yet again. Maybe a veteran like Herby74 can tell us if this degree of movement is so unusual?

Well, FINALLY!!!

Yes, the long national nightmare is over -- I have a VIN on the OL, too! The computers must roll over after midnight. The automated ASK-MINI is down right now for maintenance, so I'll try again later today to get a completion date. Huzzah! Anyone else get the good news?

Congrats to everyone that there car is moving along. I have a question, askmini still says sceduled completion date 30th Aug and that I am in the paint shop. It has said this for days, well actually last week I got moved from a completion date on 1 Sept to Aug 30th. Any reasoning there?

thanks for any info...BTW askmini's office is closed today.

Yep! A VIN magically appeared on the OL this morning. No doubt we'll be completed by Sept.7 and then on the way to the USA.

Sure, I can help with that. I'm geeky enough and OCD enough to be fascinated by such stuff. Just don't expect reports at the crack of dawn; I'm a night owl! We will doubtless be on several different ships, so maybe some others can do it as well?

Great news, everybody!! Maybe tomorrow we can get completion dates from live reps or MAs. Is anyone still waiting for a VIN?

Cally95, I'm in your situation exactly...got bumped from completion date of 9/1 to 8/30 but still got the message "in the paint shop for about a week. I believe that the car was already completed but the system just failed to updated the status somehow.

I would definitely talk to a live person tomorrow to get the picture tomorrow and probably ask them if it will make the Elektra on the way to the USA on 9/8.....

Congrats to other week 36ers.... Hopefully we will be shipmates.....

The "How to Track Your MINI" thread has all the info you need: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=144057.

In a nutshell, we'll be on either Wallenius Wilhelmsen (WW) or K-Line ships. When you get your completion date, look at both schedules to see what the next ships are to your port. Expect at least a day between completion and setting sail to allow for the train ride from Oxford and Southampton, and loading. You may not make the first ship out, so have a few from both lines in mind. WW makes it really easy to track what ship you're on, as it will let you log in your VIN to see if you got on board; K-Line doesn't have this. Here are WW schedules; K-Line schedules.

Example: My MINI is going to Charleston. The Charleston-bound WW ships are Tombarra (9/8, will probably miss that), Independence II (9/13), and Don Quijote (9/16); K-Line are Western Highway (9/7, probably before completion), Caribbean Highway (9/12), and Southern Highway (9/19). We don't get sexy names like the ships going to the West Coast. As some of the guys already droolingly noted a couple of pages ago, the Carmen / Elektra combo is priceless.

Thanks for the info tancred,

How do you do the VIN # tracking thing on the WW ships? Also, is the only way you know which ship your on is an estimation according to your completion build date?

Thanks,

Dell

Section 4 of the "How to Track Your MINI" thread has that answer, which is rather complicated. Apparently your MA can tell you which K-Line ship you're on if you don't find your VIN on a WW manifest. But you found that already!

Got an email stating the the car is complete! Woohoo!

I would expect it should be on one of the first ships then.
