Otello - July 15th
Here is what our ship looks like. http://www.isleofwightuk.co.uk/JAlbu...des/Otello.jpg. Not a bad looking vessel.
Let's pray for nice weather and smooth sailing for our soon to be prized possesions.

The OTELLO schedule shows it arriving and departing Zeebrugge today and arriving and departing Southampton tomorrow. Last reported position of the OTELLO was given yesterday as underway to Zeebrugge but I cannot find its position today. Anybody else have any luck?
I hope I'm not the only one acting the zealot about tracking my Mini :-)

Twenty five years ago I was in the Air Force and I was stationed in England. I ordered a BMW to be built and when the time came I flew over to Munich, picked up my car at the factory, and drove it through Germany to Zeebrugge on the Belgian coast. Put the car on a ferry there, and rode over to England in the passenger lounge of the ferry. I don't specifically recall how long the voyage was, but it seems like it was five or six hours. The Otello is probably a faster ship, however, so who knows?

I'm still theorizing that MINI shifted some schedules around to get Clubman's out the door more quickly. I noticed that week 27 was heavy with MCCs, and that there several former week 27 non-Clubmans that got bumped to week 28, and few if any Clubmans got bumped. I wonder if the bumping from the Patriot reflects that schedule shift, or is just a typical event.
Remember, 17 MINIs fit in the space taken by 16 Clubman! Maybe you were the 17th MINI.

Hopefully I'll get to board the OTELLO tomorow.
It's definitely got some characters on board, for sure!
Went poking around to see if I could find a video of cars being taken on or off an auto-transport ship like the Otello, and found this video taken ON the Otello!

Don't know why they'd want to do that when apparently there's an outdoor swimming pool on board! (TRUE!)

GOT ON OTELLO!
Woo Hoo!
Astrid has been booked on Otello, and is at the terminal today. She will set sail today, and be in NY by the 24th...if the Fates are with us!
My booking number is indeed GBSOU659385, and there are some 218 vehicles on this booking number. Because this voyage, EA828-OTL, also goes to Halifax, Baltimore, and Brunswick GA, there will be other booking numbers that are for these destinations.
You should see Astrid on the roads of Greater Boston in a couple of weeks!
Cheers

Am I getting bumped?
When I go to the WW site my status still shows as booked and at the terminal. It does not say loaded yet!! Since Otello sails today does this mean I got bumped? I sure hope not.

It's probably too early to tell. Looked a couple of minutes ago and the Otello is still in port. They could still be loading. Won't know for sure until you either show up as loaded, or after the ship has sailed and you are still showing as booked.
14/07/2008 09:09 Booked
15/07/2008 12:27 Received at terminal
Come on, lads! You can cram it in there!
The WW site didn't find my car by VIN, but I located by reviewing the cargo for the booking number between Southampton and NY (thanks to whoever posted that in the week 28 group!)
(Think I went too far with the "lads" thing? I did it in a fake Ringo Starr accent. I bet they see right through it.)
