You won't have any problem doing the oil change youself, The cannister screws off just like your basic filter, Just be sure you have the 27mm socket and a short extension. You'll also need an 8mm wrench or socket to get the coolant tank out of the way. Don't forget to break the vacum in the cannister and wait a few seconds before removing it allowing the oil to drain back into the pan. Probably a 30 minute job if the motor's not too hot.

Tennesseemini - Check your oil pan, mine used a T50 Torx. I've read somewhere that a 4mm hex wrench works but my 08 MCS uses the T50.

I have an MCS with the all-weather run-flats. I have the premium, cold-weather and Nav options on it. The car is noisy, but in a way I like. I'm really bothered by the rough ride. You think changing out the tires would help?

Maybe the difference is the sport package. I love the way mine feels. My tire profile is 40 and it is running the stock Pirelli's that came with the car.

2) The ride is really, really rough. I can feel every little bump in the road. Is this normal? My previous Mazdaspeed6 was much smoother.
3) I'm also facing, what I think is understeer. When I accelerate quick, I seem to lose control of the direction that I want the car to go. I'm guessing I'm in a learning curve on how to drive a FWD car, as the Mazdaspeed6 was AWD.

If anyone has any tip, I'd appreciate it
There is a good chance that the liquid you speak of is the stuff they pump in there for the boat ride over to prevent it from rusting. sorry but I forget the name.

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't have tought to break the vacuum for the oil bleed down. My MINI is the 08 as well. I've only got 250 miles on her. I'm thinking about making the first change at around 5000 to 6000 miles.

Hunsingeruk, The liguid you are talking about is probably condensation from the A/C. Mine does the same thing.

On the understeer......All of the front wheel drive cars I have owned have behaved the same way. When accelerating from a turn the car seems to be trying to twist the steering wheel from you hand. It's something you have to get used to.

Yeh, I figured the dripping liquid was from the A/C. It didn't smell funny, so I'm not worrying about it too much.

And the description of the understeer you gave, is exactly what I'm facing! I'm learning to handle it better...I think the trick is to accelerate at the right point into the turn. Is that what I should be doing? The MINI is a unique car, and I'm getting used to it...

A few dealer "We Owes" and since I have the folding mirror option, the factory didn't put the correct switch in. Also converting tires to nitrogen.

Has any of you had the cosmoline running out on your bumper and front fender trim yet? I used a good coat of "Ice" paste wax on it a few days after delivery. Sure enough, it happened but seemed to come off easily with no visible staining.

I am using Prima products: mystique wash, hydro after every wash (have only done 3) and 1 coat of Epic wax. I would like to do another coat of wax before winter. It did a good job of increasing the shine.

My whole detailing kit is full of Prima products. I bought some Prima Banana Gloss....think I will give her a waxing next week. It is so nice to be able to wax a car in an hour.

The only thing I need now is a gritless bucket.

I use 2 buckets, wash and rinse. Do you know if they sell the gritless buckets at auto parts stores, or is it something you have to order online?

I haven't heard of the Banana Gloss. Perhaps I will try that sometime. Is is quicker to use than Epic? Can it get on the black plastic?

Has anyone done a rally yet? We did a rally with some folks form our local chapter yesterday. Some of these guys track their MINI's so our 90 mile one way fall trip was through twists and turns. Can I say what a MINI. The car handles better than my inputs. Still learning the nuances of cornering at 60 mph.
Hope the 29ers are all doing well.
