Week 24 Support Group
EMDEN
I am assuming I am on the K-Line ship EMDEN, my vin is not showing up on the WW site, and my Cooper has been completed since the 17th, is this a safe assumption? Have any other week 24 owners not been able to see if they are loaded on a ship yet?
I hope my baby isn't getting sea sick about now
. Of all the MINI's I've ordered, this one is taking relatively forever...even accounting for the delay from the fuel strike. Thankfully I'm in no hurry right now, but still, I'm getting antsy already!
I found the MINIUSA Owner's Lounge information to be far behind the actual dates. The Ask Mini line said it finished production on 6-12, but the Lounge info didn't say awaiting transport until 6-17. Part of this was probably due to the strike, and the updates being a low priority. I was told that it was in Quality Control on 6-13, I hope the extra 5 days meant they were just checking how well it was built, and not fixing something major. I did get confirmation it was booked on the Maersk Wave on 6-17 at the WW web site. Now I know the Maersk Wave left port on 6-20, but the Lounge still didn't say "Inroute" until 6-26-08. Thats at least one proven instance of a 6 day delay in updating the information.
I've been on the boat since the 23rd but 866 MINI just now said... en route today. Yup, both the 866 and the OL are behind but my MA at least warned me. He said the site only gets updated twice a week or something like that. Thank goodness for NAM or I don't know what I would do.
Looks like I was right, Ask Mini confirmed I am en route today. Still no confirmation on a WW boat so, I can now safely assume I am on the K-Line Emden.
Next Question: Any idea how long the MINI takes to get from South Carolina to San Antonio, Texas?

I was told 6 to 10 days from SC to Houston, so about the same for you.
Looks like the OL and ASKMINI finally admitted my MINI's on the boat!
I called my MA at the dealership and her daily production updates said my boat is scheduled to get to port on July 2nd....however this doesn't align with any of the K-line schedules, and my VIN doesn't show up on the WW site. So confuzzled.

Alright! Glad to hear James is home as well
I've only had Prescott for a few days now, but here are early impressions (keeping in mind he's a "justacooper").
I'm definitely in a different class of car than what I'm used to driving. I've owned a couple new Hondas (00 Civic and 06 Element, and have driven extensively in an 07 Civic). I loved those vehicles, they had decent build quality, unrivaled reliability, and especially the new Civic was fun to drive...
Now Prescott, he's got so many features, and overall the quality of finish is very good (a few VERY minor/picky spots I think could seem a little higher quality with minimal effort, like the seam along the top of part of the inside door bar just above the door storage pocket, that should be hidden, stuff like that). I think it's going to take awhile to fully appreciate all the nuances and small luxuries that make the whole experience of the vehicle so great.
I feel like he's a little slower off the line than say the 07 Civic, but I think it's mostly because the gear ratios are a little different than I'm used to. I'm noticing it less after having a few days of driving.
Making up for that is the handling. Wow! Like nothing I've been in. It feels so sure and in control. I'm starting to push corners a bit harder as I get more confident in just how great it is, and this is with the stock, basic setup and all-season tires! You folks who are getting the sport suspension and wider tires will have even more of a treat. I can't help but smile at how fun he is to drive! It's only going to get better as I get to learn him better as well, I'm sure.
And not to be underestimated, the car looks great! All my co-workers think it looks really nice and I've gotten nothing but compliments. Part of the ordering process is this long wait, but in the end, getting exactly what you wanted is very much worth it!
I can't wait for everyone else to be united with their new MINIs so you can all get to enjoy it!
Happy Motoring!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I guess the new Civic's must be a lot different then the old ones because my 98 Civic sucks. My Corolla was better then that car.
I've got butterflies in my tummy reading the week 23 thread seeing everyone getting their cars and now we have our first week 24 baby home :D
I guess not a lot of week 24's to keep me company :(

Congratulations on picking up your new cars!!
I imagine this week will bring a number of new arrivals to our little group - everyone try to post pics and first impressions please, so that those of us with late arrivals will have something to drool over (ours was stuck on the dock in Southampton for 9 days before catching a ride, and is taking another week sightseeing in Panama). Still hoping/anticipating delivery around 7-19, but waiting doesn't get any easier the second time around.
Woohoo! Just heard from my MA yesterday. My car cleared the VCD yesterday and should arrive at the dealership early next week. I should get it sometime mid-next week. I'm so excited I think I'm going to puke.
Congrats otterdad! Let's see some more pictures of that hot Clubbie you have
It sounds like most of us are almost ready to pick up our cars. Mine is close to leaving the VPC and will be at my dealership Monday, woo hoo! Since they're 3 hours away I won't be going to pick it up until next weekend though.
