Hey all! (2002 MCS)

Hey guys,

I just got a used 2002 Mini Cooper S. I'm really liking its nimbleness on the road. It's a fun vehicle to drive.

My other car is a crew cab Silverado. It's a land barge, and not fun to drive, so the Mini is getting put through its paces as I remember how fun driving is. =) I drove it like I stole it on the way home and I must say I love its performance. 70mph accelerating to, well, um, more that 70mph was very fast and responsive!

I got it as a gas-expense solution. I found that driving in 6th gear at 70mph, the OBC reads 42 mpg! How accurate are these things in general? I expected 35mpg so am quite happy if I eck out a bit more.

The previous owner (the original owner, too) seemeds to have ordered every option available on the '02 minus JCW options, so it is loaded.

It's silver with a black roof. Bonnet stripes will be my first $$ put into it.

Anyways, hello all!

Don

And since my initial post was so well received, here are some pics. My wife and I have decided to name him Nigel.

Stripes are the first thing on my list. I'm going with the near-stock ones that are black with white edges. Bonnet and Boot, but no roof.

I think after that it will be an air intake and a Unichip. Not much more after that. I want it to perform, but I need the mpg to justify having it. Any other mods will have to carefully be weighed against fuel economy.
