I am not sure where everyones MINI is coming into port, BUT.....I checked the WW schedule and as far as east coast.

I assume they leave Southhampton.

hey guys, I order my mcs, pure silver w/ black roof, conv. package, DSC, on 5/5/08. Those 17 inch wheels would be a killer on the potholes of manhattan! So i stuck with 16 inch S-Winders.

Production Completed on 5/15/08. Tracking my mini on the W&W site shows a voyage of EB-820-COG departure of 5/19/08. Arrival scheduled for 5/28/08. Figure another week or so after that and i should take delivery in Mini of Manhattan in the second week of June and start motoring. Woohoo! :-P

 

I still have no SHIP info on mine that was finished on 5-12-08. The WW site says no tracking info..........I have heard they are sometime slow to update but mine was done 3 days B4 yours............Lucky U
It should be on the same ship as yours and dropped off in Charleston SC or Brunswick GA after yours in NY

 

What is the WW website? Mine was finish yesterday also, but I'm in the west cost so it will take a bit longer to get here, but I want to know if she is on the same boat as yours

Hi, I have been through the process of ordering and tracking my Mini now for about a month and a half. Through this I have gathered from your many posts the steps to track your mini. They are scattered about so I thought I would put them all together so future readers can track theirs easier.

1. Production #: you have to have this to start. I got mine the day I ordered from my dealer, walked out of the showroom with it. Some have reported waiting up to a week or more for theirs, I believe that this is a matter of dealer allocation. If you order when a dealer still has allocation on a production run, you get your number, if not you have to wait until that dealer gets another allocation.

2. Owners Lounge: Once you have your production number you can goto www.miniusa.com and sign-in to the owners lounge. The 1st few days the info may be wrong (color etc) but it will correct itself soon enough. This is really the slowest to update of the various tracking options. Anyway this is also 1 or 2 ways to get your VIN. Once the Owners Lounge (OL from here on) has your correct car, goto the Where's my baby? page. You need to see the HTML code here, so if you have MS Internet Explorer right click anywhere on the page and select 'View Source', for Firefox use the view menu and select 'Page Source'. There will be 2 lines way down the page with your VIN along with all your order options as well as your dealer’s name. Wright this down somewhere!

3. 866-ASK-MINI: This is really the best info for the early stages, production to being loaded on the ship. Call often, sometimes you will get confliction info, just call back until you get the same answer several times. Talk to a person, the automated system is not much netter than the OL. They can tell you things like when it's in the paint shop etc. Once they tell you it has finished production and is waiting for transport, you can move on.

4. Transport: This is where the Wallenius Wihlmsen site (WW) comes in,
http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/cargoTrack.do , Go here and click on 'Auto Cargo'. Put your VIN in the 'Cargo ID' box. If nothing shows up wait a few hours and try again. Mine took 24 hours from when they said it had left the factory. Once it shows up, you will know the ship, booking and voyage numbers. The voyage details will tell you when and where this ship is going. The bill of lading number will let you see which VIN's are on the ship with you. you may have to scroll down many pages to find yours.

5. Ship tracking: Now you need the www.sailwx.info site Use the 'Find ship by name or call sign' under the Ship Tracker menu. Once you find your ship you can track it across the Atlantic. If the ship is too close to land it will not show up. It seems that they don't report to this site unless they are out to sea. You can always go back to the WW site and check the voyage details to see if it has left a port. Once it gets close to the good 'ol USA you need to switch to http://aisfree.aislive.com , you will need to do a free registration. This is really a paid site but you can usually get enough info from the free version. They have a really details view of the NYC ports, with lists of every ship updated every hour. Once it leaves NYC the info is less detailed and you have to hope to check it at the right time to see your ship listed.

 

Just in case you hadn't seen it elsewhere, the 2007 manual for the coupe is essentially the same. It'll be missing anything covering the USB port and maybe the auto-up windows, but other than that the cars should be identical.

I haven't been to the OL in a while, but if there's still not Nav manual up, there's a scanned PDF posted in the 2nd Gen Nav & Audio forum.

I though all shipments were going to end up in NY and from there they send it by truck to the west coast .... I still don't get it, my Mini was finish yesterday, this means the car will be waiting weeks for a ship?

 

MiniNova - Any cars destined for the west coast go down through the Panama Canal and back up to Port Hueneme. Let's hope all of ours get on the first possible outgoing ship

Does anyone know if they take the car's final destination into consideration when putting them on the boats? ie. making sure a Vermont Mini goes onto a NY boat as opposed to a GA boat.

 

Your order form should have a "Port Loc." field that will be NYCPOA (NY), CHSPOA (Charleston, SC), or whatever the abbreviation is for Port Hueneme, CA is For example, mine's coming to MINI of Towson (near Baltimore), so it's booked to NYCPOA. But I'm two weeks behind you guys and am trolling around to see what's happening elsewhere!

 

Hey All, My Mini is in there with you too. This is my first Mini and mine should be hitting Brunswick, GA someday. I'm still trying to figure this all out. Everyone seems to really have the cool buttons and cartoon cars and Mini lingo down pretty good. I'm working on it. I must say though this is pretty exciting. I have never been so excited when buying a car. But then again this isn't any car, IT's A Mini!

 

My new 08 started production on 4/30 and is due to show up in Georgia on 5/28 on board the Fedora. What week does that make me? Also, does anyone know how long it takes to get thru the distribution center and on its way to the dealer? They will be installing sport stripes before it goes.

sdavid - I believe that makes you week 18. As for the distribution center, from what I've read 1-2 weeks is about the norm, but someone feel free to correct me on that.

 

Thanks for the quick reply. The waiting is brutal. Do you know if there is a VDC in Brunswick or will it have to go to the Carolina's? I'd hate to see the car have to go north when I'm getting delivery in West Palm...

We may have a few folks in our group for week 21 that have gotten confused.

I believe that week 21 starts on the 18th...some of us are just now getting our VIN's. My Clubman is scheduled to be completed on the 22nd.

I'm hoping those of us hitching a ride to the West Coast will begin seeing our VIN numbers show up as cargo on the Boheme in the next couple of days...looks like VINs started appearing for the Courage a couple days before setting sail...
