Week 23 2008 Support Group
even with the slight delay of the ship, my car should still arrive at my mini dealer and be ready for delivery before I even arrive to Seattle... I'll probably be on my ride out when I get the call...
why would anyone care who is where. As been said, we all have interest in the same thing!!!
I was going to ask how you knew this (the last known position shown on the www.sailwx.info web is from over a year ago, so clearly that site doesn't work for tracking!), but I thought I'd some some Googling first. I came up with this site which pinpoints the ship exactly: http://www.shipais.com/showship.php?mmsi=265491000. But, presumably this won't work once the ship leaves the UK coast?
True to their word, I called again on the 8th and the automated voice said it's been completed and was waiting to be released to the carrier.
I checked on the 10th at the Wallenius Wihlmsen site just to see if my VIN # would be accepted and there it was, scheduled on the ASIAN CHORUS and ready to board!

Mignon is the upper yellow mark on the lowest left side. Or you can click on the "Ships underway" link for the Mignon and it'll take you to it. This one only works for the area immediate of Isle of Wright, once it leaves the screen, you need to use sailwx or another AIS site. I haven't found another site just yet, but I might when Chorus leaves tomorrow. It's much easier to use than the shipais website.

That's what I'm wondering cooperfan. We are supposed to be brothers...maybe we are on there!?
I just got off the phone with ask-mini. The lady was fairly certain that I'm on a boat....she couldn't tell which one. So...that's encouraging, but still no guarantees. Still strange to me that they can't track these things a little better.
Ahh well!

Yeah! I'm having a hard time figuring out where it is in the ocean though. Can you tell on that map? What's that big body of land above it lol?
Looks to me like the body of land is the UK and below it is France. But that's not on the view. So it's not gotten awfully far yet, but that data appears to be up to 4 days old.
If we are on that ship we are roughing it...look at this rusty thing!

Now I know PeeWee is safe with Yuko and all the others because their parents-to-be are tracking their carrier's every move.

AIS (Automatic Identification Service) is a VHF FM based transponder system. It is effectively limited to the curvature of the earth, so yes once the vessel is more than 10-15 miles (very high antennas on RO/ROs) the shore based stations will "lose" the contact.
StarryEyed, Are you going to add hot pink accents?
I want to add something to both the top and sides but don't know exactly how i'm gonna accomplish a custom set of decals. I haven't had much luck e-mailing cooper flags yet. I'm gonna have to try again.
