just got back from the tire shop...

they lost my metal valve stem, so they've gotta find it or order a new one... yet another day of driving with that annoying tpms light on.

is it just the light, or does it bong bong bong the entire time?

---
no issues with my mood lighting, but i am thinking of tearing it apart and making some mods to it.

^it's just the light really. it has occasionally beeped at me when I've come to a stop, but nothing I can't get over.

i'm seriously flabbergasted at the response of this city to snow. I come from the east where I've driven in 8"+ deep snow with no issues. Apparently here in seattle people who don't know how to drive in the snow still try. Watching the news is hilarious. People are abandoning their cars in the middle of the freeway, not trying to get un stuck like everyone else on the road. It's created some crazy traffic backups.

I just don't get it.

it's just like people here with rain.

OH NO, WATER IS FALLING FROM THE SKY!!@#&^!@&* Let's all slam on the brakes, drive faster and swerve in and out of lanes..

LOL

oh... yeah, on my navi today, i had 210+ traffic incidences. big rig flipped over and did a 180 on the other side of the freeway about 30 minutes before i left work.

I grew up in Seattle for 28 years and find they're the same on the east side of the state too!

We've had 2 feet of snow here in Spokane in the last 36 hours and you'd think people with 2 wheel drive cars would stay home, nope! They insist on giving it a try and off the road they go, or better yet they just high center themselves in the middle of the road on a berm blocking off everyone else who thought it through and got out the 4x4.

Update W23ers!

I'm writing from Wheeing, WV after a 7.5 hour drive (urg traffic!) from NYC. Best thing ever?!? Did it on one tank of gas with some to spare!! 500+ miles on one tank!! Its crazy!

I'm headed west for an 11 day skiing adventure in Colorado and hoping to dodge most of the huge blizzard blowing through the large distance still between me and Colorado mountains! I've got some pictures and will have many more once I get a chance to upload them!

Any W23ers live along I-70 and wanna take a picture together as I sail through town?!

it's just crazy.

i had no problem driving today in my mini, but i still witnessed quite a few fender benders... I was almost victim myself. luckily i knew I was probably going to be having issues with clueless drivers so I always made sure I had an escape route. Guy came flying down a hill that was packed snow and ice. I knew he couldn't stop, my abs had kicked in at one point while stopping. I cut over onto the shoulder in front of a line of parked cars, and what do ya know, that huge SUV slammed into the back of the car that was in front of me.

i'm not unemployed, but I just took a 20% pay cut.

Things are going to be seriously tight now. That's on top of the 3% i took last month. I guess I can say at least it isn't a 100% pay cut.

Update week 23ers!
Mystique has landed after her first ocean voyage! (She took the train from Oxford to Rome)

The Navy will gently, carefully and lovingly place her on a car carrier and truck her across the USA, from the port in VA to the military lot in CA.

They figure we'll be reunited by Jan 15 or so!

Meanwhile, I'm recovering from jet lag, and waiting for express Household goods and full hhg to arrive here.

Matt is still back in Naples til March 01, so send warm fuzzies to Naples for the poor guy without his MINI and without his wife...which does he miss more? I'd better not ask!

Will post more as news develops...now to unpack, paint, find a job, and begin our new life. Happy Motoring, Happy Christmas, Happy New Year to all...

PS I joined SoCal MINI Maniacs, theirs was the only San Diego covering club with a working URL. http://www.scmm.org/

Awesome! It's an amazing group of the nicest people you will ever meet.

There's also a local SD club, http://members.***.net/sdmini/

Finally took a road trip in Simon over the holidays. Took the wife and girls (3 & 7), luggage, and all our gifts to the coast for Christmas with the in-laws and to see my dad. I have to say, it was a very enjoyable drive.

The girls had their Ipods (thanks to Santa) and we also took a portable DVD player for them, so that kept the squabbling to a minimum.

Up until this trip, everything has been in stop-and-go traffic for me just travelling between my two branches, so it was really nice to get out on the open highway for an extended period. The more I drive this thing, the more I love it.

When my dad saw it (he's 76) he immediately started asking all the right questions so we've now built one on the configurator and he is going to let it replace his wife's Jeep Liberty.

This time, it's "Like Son - Like Father"!

Merry belated Christmas and early Happy New Years!

^even beeing a dd, it's nerve-racking being on the road. It was clearly apparent that there were a few drunks on the road...

I pulled over a few times to allow swervers/tailgaters by.

Exactly the reason I like to stay home!
I was hit by a drunk driver many years ago - in traction for 3 months. Physical theropy for 9 months!
If I see someone swervering I pull way back than start praying for a cop to pull him over!

i still haven't gotten my TPMS sensor replaced from when I got my snow tires installed 3 weeks ago. Looks like I should have it installed this weekend, we'll see.

I will be taking my MINI back to the dealership any time I have to get anything done, even something as simple as getting new tires put on.

It's sad, but this car is too complicated for most shops.
