I grew up in the Detroit area, so Motown in general is always a hit with me, but here are some particulars besides Motown, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band, and rock:

Smokey Robinson- Cruisin' Together
Springsteen- Racing in the streets
Mighty Mighty Bosstones- Jackknife to a Swan album.
The Clash, Jack Johnson, Paul Simon's "Graceland", The Reverend Horton Heat, Weezer.

I have a lot of hip hop, but nothing that sticks out to me as a road trip song.

I sound old, i'm only 22 I swear

Start with MC5, and go from there.

My taste in music changes daily with my moods and weather, so I would carry different cd's for different occasions every time I left the house.
But as of week ago I installed a MINI OEM IPod connector and now I have an 80gb IPod that has over several thousand songs on it with room for more than I can ever imagine having.
So as far as my favorite driving music goes, it is a little bit of everything.
  • A-Ha
  • Aerosmith
  • Alan Jackson
  • Apollo Four Fourty
  • April Wine
  • Asia
  • BTO
  • The Barefoot Man
  • Barenaked Ladies
  • Blur
  • The Cardigans
  • Deep Blue Something
Oh well you get my drift...

A great list going so far. I think we have the beginning of a "Greatest Road Trip Hits" CD set. I do have a few additions:

CD- "The Joshua Tree" by U2
Song- "Everyday Is A Winding Road" by Sheryl Crow (A mountain driving must have)

I was born in 1971. Gee, I had good taste in music when I was a baby.

Of course, the only reason I sat here and researched all this is because my aging body can barely move after a long week and a runaround Friday and Saturday.

I don't know if you are a young whippersnapper or a crotchety old man, 356mikel, but whatever the case...

HEY YOU KIDS! GET OUT OF MY YARD!
