SFOMINI, who's your MA? I couldn't remember your name when my MA ( Katy ) asked me about you..
I'm expecting a call today from Katy to schedule an appointment to pick Hawthorne up, but I'm going to Mick Overman's gig in Santa Cruz tonight, so it will be Saturday at the soonest.
I'm planning on mapping an escape route from the dealer, that is, a route that will allow me to do repeated acceleration/deceleration to seat the rings.

I to had 4 miles on my car when I picked it up. The average speed on mine was 5 mph. Our dealer has an extra lot that they keep cars on so I just figured they had to drive it from there. Cant get enough on the car though. Car gets lots of looks and questions.

Katy is also my MA. She's going to call me today and let me know if I can get my car this afternoon or tomorrow. I'm hoping it is today, but if it ends up being tomorrow maybe we'll run into each other.

Ours is the Laser blue Clubman, with black trim, checkered roof, and 5 spoke wheels.
What were you picking up? I swung by the dealer on my way into work and the lot looked a little more full than last week.

okay....
i got there @ 3pm. and i didn't leave until 5pm (paperwork & my MA showing me all the whatnots and programming of the options of the car).
crazy thing.... 4 cars in the showroom...and EVERYONE was flocking towards mine. and when i got there, there was a plaque/podium thing with my name on it in front of the car with a disco ball shining above it. it was pretty rad.
i spent 25% of my time talking to all the people/customers. i was pretty much a brochure for them because i knew about every option that was available and i was explaning prices and such to them. (knowledge i got from reading these forums and motoringfile religiously. thanks!)
there was a great comraderie/family of mini owners and soon to be owners there. the vibe was great!
anyways.....i didn't get home til about 6'clock and i've been driving around for a bit and installing the cargo net that came with the car. plus the neighbors came over to chat about the car, so i haven't been inside until now (7:40pm).
pictures to come soon (like later tonite/early tomorrow). i'm still pretty effin' excited right now.
and stevej, i didn't see yours in the showroom...but i saw it a blue/black clubman in the lot in the back. i wasn't too sure if it had checkered roofing. but i'm pretty sure it was your car. they said all the clubmans on the premises were spoken for (none were for sale).
anyways...i need to eat dinner now (at home). i totally forgot about eating breakfast & lunch because i was so jazzed to head up to pleasanton.

Dont think i forgot about you guys, I will be picking up my Mini this tuesday. i have had to wait just about a month for circumstances that were out of my control. so expect to hear from me then. thanks! yeah...i'm gonna need the luck. its been over eight years since i drove a manual transmission as a full time car. but i'm remembering fast...just not fast enough. the gear changes aren't smooth, but thats my automatic dependency formed throughout the years. the fact that car rental places in the US don't rent out manuals doesn't help either.

I am lovin' this car. I have ran through two tanks now and got 34 mpg and 35.1 mpg. Glad you finally got yours. Enjoy!

Picked up "Charlie" tonight at Scottsdale North Mini. They had my MCS covered in the showroom and did an "unveil". It was awesome to see him up and in person after all the wait. It was worth every minute... Lisa my MA was very informative, but I will definitely have to read the manuals to learn everything I have already forgottten. In and out in about 45 minutes. Pictures to follow soon. I can't wait for all of those on the Turandot to get their up front and personal. Cheers...

Nearly every time I'm at the dealer I end up talking with the other customers too. Surprising how uninformed some of them are... enthusiastic but uninformed. Guess not everyone craves Mini info like all of us NAM addicts.

the drive-in movie plan was cancelled because my gf and i are having a hissyfit AND she already saw the indiana jones movie with her ex (without informing me). sorry....i had to rant.

My MA was able to squeeze me in yesterday afternoon (she was busy, between taking orders, giving test drives, etc. - she really earned her pay yesterday); and about 6 pm I drove off the lot with my new car! Wow, it is fantastic. It handles even better than I remember from the test drive. I'm going out now to drive up to SF to show it off to some friends. I charged up my camera last night so I can take some pics today. Woo-hoo, this is a great weekend (despite the weather).
