Question about MINI owners lounge & production number

I just ordered my mini today and they gave me a production number, but when I go into the owner's lounge an dput it in, on the first page it says "The production number you entered, xxx3898, is for a Dark Silver metallic paint 2008 MINI Cooper S. If this is not your vehicle please check the production number you entered and click Re-Check Production Number. If this is your vehicle please click Continue."

This is not my mini cooper! I heard that it will take some time for the site to update etc...but should I even procede and click continue if it's messed up?

They frequently have the wrong specs for cars in "the lounge" for a couple days - it will "right" itself. But the lounge is notoriously slow in updating - it's more accurate to call 1-888-askmini and get their automated update and even more accurate to ask for a customer representative who will give you the true status - they expect us expectant parents to be nervous and are VERY accommodating, so don't hesitate to ask for a human - they know we're a little (ok, a lot) OCD about the whole thing.

Thanks for the reply! I thought I read that the owners lounge was slow in updating (probably in the sticky about tracking your mini). I'm just so nervous about having actually ordered a mini and wanting everything to come out right! My dealer said that I should expect it to be here in 6 weeks or less? Is this an understatement?? I thought it took 8-12 weeks to get this thing from across the pond to the dealer?

As far as I can tell, the info is updated late Sat or early Sunday morning.

and like thulewx sez, the initial car config may be wrong, but should show up correct after a little while

Mine took about 2 days to show up correctly. After that, I was able to confirm all of my specs.

I think 6-8 weeks is pretty common. Mine looks like it will only take about 4. Some people on here are definitely at the 12 week point. It depends on dealer allocation, options chosen, even color...

Welcome to MINI!

The dealer has preordered cars that will be delivered if they don't sell the allocation to someone. When you ordered your MINI you were assigned one of the preordered cars. Once the dealer inputs your order and the database updates, you'll be fine. It's called MINIORDERITIS and it has affected everyone.

Minichaser -- I had the same thing happen and even called the dealer to make sure something hadn't been screwed up. They assured me all was well and the OL updated about a week later.

I'm in SD too and they told me 6-8 weeks. My mini should be getting into the port on 4/7 [fingers crossed] and 4/8 will be exactly 8 weeks since I ordered her. I'm not expecting to take delivery until a week after that. If I get her before, even better!!

Congrats on your mini, maybe I'll see you on the 15!

Besides being wrong for the first few days, the car's specs in the OL never showed one of the options we ordered. Our MA assured us it showed on his spec sheet and was indeed ordered and would be installed at the factory. We picked up the car two days ago and he was right.
We ordered the Clubman 2/18 and delivery was 3/24, so less than six weeks. It's a little quicker delivery here on the east coast, but the time it takes also depends on your dealer's allocation slots.

Thanks for all the replies! I'm glad to know my dealer wasn't blowing hot air to make a sale (he knew I was really really impatient...)

I just checked the OL today and they have the right color choice etc. So I canonly assume everything is going according to plan!

My car finally switched to "most" of my order. I now have the right color and all of the options but the Bluetooth/Ipod option is missing. Should I worry? Why would the OL update everything but one option? I have a copy of the Vehicle Inquiry Report from my MA and the Bluetooth is on it.

If all of your options updated but one, to me that would be a good reason to contact your MA and make sure he didn't forget about it

Did you get the convenience package? If so, it's included in that. If not, check with your MA quickly to make sure your order did include the Bluetooth/Ipod a la carte option. Once production starts, it's pretty much set in stone.

The VIR should be what MINI received. Try 866-ASK-MINI tomorrow morning to see if it's actually in the system just not showing up. If it's not on their end, call your MA.

Yeah, will do, thanks. The funny thing is I already had to scrap one production slot when I decided to add the Bluetooth....so it's killing me that OL has omitted it.....what torture!

Aren't these options installed by the dealer?

No, this is factory installed B/T and iPod option...$500

866-ASK-MINI told me they have no way to check my order (I find that kind of odd) and they asked me to call my salesman.

OK OK....salesman said everything is cool and the options are all correct...the car has a VIN and will be finished June 21st. YAY

Hi all,

Same issue with me and the wrong car when i plug in the production number...should I continue with registration for owners lounge? Or wait until it's the right car to set it up?
