Hi Everyone: My wife and I purchased an '03 MCS this Fall. It has been great fun. We have been out touring around Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.
We now have a problem of limp mode and the EML light like I have been reading about in the problems section of this site. As suggested, I went to AutoZone parts store and rented a code reader ($149. but I get a cash refund when I return it). The reader came up with P1125 and P1229. Both say Manufacturer Control Fuel Air Metering. Can anyone tell me if this sounds like the bypass value? If it is - where do I find it?
Would appreciate any advise.

 

Can't help with your codes but welcome to NAM and congrats on your MINI. I'd personally keep the code reader as it work with any cars you purchase in the future - every once in a while it comes in handy to check and clear codes.

 

I've seen several other references when googling p1125 for throttle position sensor and this link gave some light to the P1229 error which coencides with the 1125 error.,

I have a PDF of the MINI OBDII codes. P1229 is "Throttle Sensor Adaption Failure". I can only assume it has something to do with the electronic throttle body or electronic gas pedal. Go get it checked.
