New MINI on order

I finally did it! I signed the paperwork this morning to get my '08 MCS ordered. I spent about 3 months researching, reading NAM and shopping different dealerships for the best deal. Here's my configuration:

Dark Silver/Black
Convenience Package
Premium Package
White Signals
LSD
DSC
Xenons
Rear Fog
16" Bridge-Spokes
Chrome Line Interior
Anthracite Headliner
Alarm System
Piano Black Dash

It's supposed to start production in February (week 1). Is there a support group for this week yet? I know the wait is going to seem like forever and I might need some support!

Sweet color choice. From the specs looks like it's going to be quite the MINI.

Congrats!

Congrads !! Your config is very close to mine. I ordered my dark silver & black MCS back on December 17 and it just finished production last week. I am just waiting to catch a boat.

Thanks! I hope mine doesn't have to wait too long to get on a boat. The waiting is bad enough. It will kill me to know it's just sitting somewhere when it could be headed this way! :impatient :impatient

Very nice! I know you will love it if the wait doesn't kill you first.

Sounds like a beautiful MINI. We can't wait to see pictures when it finally arrives...

Thanks everyone. What did you guys do to keep yourselves from going crazy waiting? I must have checked the Owner's Lounge 10 times today to see if my status has been updated. I know it takes a while to update, but I just want to see it move to "Scheduled for Production". I'm a little impatient if you couldn't tell...

Well, I just got off the phone with 866-ASK-MINI and my car is scheduled for production for the week of February 4th (week 6). I know that total time from order to delivery takes 4+ weeks for the East coast, but how much of that time is after your car has started production? In other words, how long should my wait be after February 4th?

Welcome and congratulations. Great color choice and a nice set of options.

Check in the general session and you will find a number of threads which have been stickied, they will point you to the tracking methods and some of the questions on your wait periods.

My recollection was once I entered production in was about 7-10 days thru production and QA, then rail to the dock (1 day), waiting for ship (3-5 days), then transport.

Transport varies, the West Coast has a longer trip, then the VDC which varies due to any VDC installed options, transport to your dealer, 3-5 days.

If you have dealer installed options, the dealer may have your MINI from 1 to 5 days for cleanup, dealer work and final cleaning/detail.

Then you will get a call, if you have not called them everyday asking for a status and appointment for delivery.

Check my sig. You will see how long I waited from April to June.

BASTARDS!!! Is what I was thinking of my dealer. Honestly I think they forgot my order for awhile. Anyway, at least the "order" is showing up now. It took me eight days though which seems to be long. Then again I live in Louisiana, and my dealer is the only one in the state and they sell out of any inventory in a day or two. It's absolutely crazy. I'll go there one day and there's no cars there. Nothing. Then there's ten. Three days later? Nothing. They sell like crazy here.

Nice car! I ordered my car the 8th of December and expect to take delivery the 1st week of February. For some reason my car spent over 3 weeks waiting for the transport. The dealer says it was because they didn't want other 2008's showing up before the new Clubman is available.

FYI, the wait is definately starting to be painful at this point. Hope your order goes a bit faster.

Wow. I sure hope so too! It will drive me insane if mine sits on a dock that long!

Excellent color and options choices. Here is how I (barely) survived the wait.
You can skip all the narration and just scroll to the bottom for some links to MINI-tracking sites.

Cool. Thanks. Was interesting to read your story. I was getting anxious for you while reading, even though you've already gotten yours!

I'm a pretty impatient person unfortunately. The longest I recall having to wait for anything I've ordered came via the UPS man (7-10 days). This wait is going to be brutal!

I drove my wife nuts stressing every day over some hint as to where the ship was. Too funny!

But hang in there. It is worth the wait.
