There are a bunch of us in week 42... have fun.

Just picked up the new MINI!!!!
I had never seen the laser blue color on a car in person before - we ordered it based on the posters. It is truly awesome! The pictures were made in the garage after dark since it is now 8 PM and we are just getting home after all the paper work and a late dinner. The car is amazing. Can't wait to drive it tomorrow!

See if the pics look any good. I will get some more in daylight and at the dealership when I pick up the license plates. I left my good camera at home when I picked it up....

Hope everyone else is getting their cars soon and will post pics!

Steve,

Looks sharp. Nice first picture. Is that a little sister Z4 sharing the garage?

Looking forward to seeing all the Week 42 car pictures and the new MINIs.

The 2006 Z4 si 6-speed manual is incredible with nice weather, windy roads, little traffic, no low clearance obstacles (like in parking garages with steep inclines), and of course - the top down. As a daily driver - it leaves a lot to be desired. The MINI is much easier to live with and almost as much fun to drive.

I will try to get some better pics tomorrow!
Hope to see more pics from others as the cars come in from week 42.

Sweet pics. Love the laser blue of course but I went with the black roof. Hope to have my own tonight or tommorow. Seems the problem is putting on the new mirror caps. Is this the dealers detailing or did you redo? If the weather holds I plan to try out the Zaino trio out this weekend.

I went with the stock mirror caps in white that come with the white roof/stripes. Our prior LiB/W had chrome option inside and out so had the chrome caps. What kind of caps did you get?

Will be doing Zaino this weekend as well!
With the relatively low surface area of the car, it should take 2-3 coats in a fairly short time.

I am going with Union Jacks. I guess I like the extra color flash but I should get the black ones back as well in case I don't like them. Can't be too hard to swap out. I think my extra wait is due to a newbie MA who did not order the caps until this week.

Or drive it now and wait for the caps to come in and put them on later!

Wow! Looks great! Is that the 2008 convertible? Do you have a USB plus AUX input or just the AUX?

I have been driving a lot since I got mine. It has been raining all weekend so no Zaino, but the rain sensor windshield wipers work great! Have to wash off all the mud and wait for some sunnier days. The back gets really dirty with driving..... must be the design or needs mud flaps.

Yes it is a 2008 cabrio. I have just the AUX. I put over 100 miles on mine the first day!! This is the most fabulous car I have EVER had. I can't stop smiling.

Finally got mind!! Ya Its perfect. Not a scatch or chip. I took a couple of short drives. I don't know about you but it is very hard to keep the rpms down below warranty levels. Must try!!. It been great weather for a wash and wax. I used ZAIO, Z2, Zc and Z18. Not sure if this is the best combo but looks nice. If I can figure out how I will post the pics.

I'm still waiting for my PW arches, but here's how it looks so far.

I swapped out the side markers for the MC ones, and have replaced the top grille surround with the JCW black one. The bottom surround didn't fit with the hypersport kit so I'm going to have to vinyl wrap it. The rest of the chrome is going to be wrapped shortly, and then it gets dropped via coilovers along with new wheels and non runflats.

so like i said from another thread, i saw my mini at the dealership. its sexy but its too high... i mean... its like suv high. my friends made fun of me cuz of that. but it doesnt bother me because im gonna lower it anyway... so my ma let me test drive the mini even though we werent allowed too because it still was being serviced. so im gonna post before and after pics.

these are the before pics and as soon as i get my car, they will be my after pics. oh sorry i didnt mention... before pics is before the jcw kit install. after is the installation and me actually getting to own the mini.

yeap... i cant wait till the end of this week where i actually will get my car. btw my ma said that it would take 10 weeks for me to get my car and all but it actually arrived 3 weeks early i believe so im pretty pumped up about it haha :D

Wow! All the cars look great!
I have the laser blue/white, but really like the LB/black too as well as the British flag look on the mirrors! Very sharp.
The red/black looks great... good luck with the modifications.
I only have 110 miles on mine since last Wednesday... and I have kept it under 4500 RPM as directed for the break-in period... and under 95 MPH (I think I maxed out at <65 so far because traffic is terrible). With the long Thanksgiving weekend - maybe we will take it a bit further out of town.

Lots of weather to deal with. Heavy rain for a couple of days with muddy under repair roads as obstacles and heavy fog this morning. Used the wipers a lot and the fog lights work just fine too! Navigation is great... I know some don't like the system in the Mini/BMW but I am used to it from my Z4 and don't find many of the other OEM systems much better (we have a Prius with nav also). Hope they allow a global POI search in an update at some point though. SIRIUS works fine, but still working on the lifetime subscription since it only has me listed for 1 year and already wants me to pay for renewal. Should be fixed soon though according to my MA. The bonnet does indeed get very hot 10 minutes or so after shutting down as noted in many prior discussions.... I will keep on eye on the threads relating to this issue. My scoop also has the perforations making it at least partially functional.

It is a great car to drive. Could not use Zaino because of the bad weather - but maybe this holiday weekend. I will be using Z2/ZFX. The Zcs is new... let me know if that works out alright. That is all for now.... back to work.
PS: I heard St. Louis dropped to only the 2nd most dangerous city after Detroit now.......

Danger! DRIVE FAST. The whole thing about St.Louis is abit blown up. But hey got to be famous for something. The Z2 CS is easy to use and looks but its been a while since I have detailed a car so nothing to compare it to yet on staying power. Did you get blue tooth and USB. I noticed that they are shipping the USB equip cars here. I am looking for a good/chee ep way to attach the IPOD. My wife might kill me if I spend alot!!. I have looked at the griffin tune flex as a possibility. So far my bonnet has not really heated up yet. I am not sure I waited the full ten minutes prior to checking. Also found the rear Fog lamps are good to make folks who want to get a good look at the MINi back off. I am getting the clear bra tommorow for $500 for the bonnet, bumper and mirrors. Seems cheaper than other prices I have seen so I am happy about that. .....Well back to dodging bullets

I got the audio package and bluetooth etc etc. Mine has an AUX but no USB port though.... I am using a dock connector to 3.5 mm output to connect to the AUX port. It does not charge though...
I got one at amazon.com. I also have a charger cable for use in a car but it can't be used at the same time since it also connects to the docking port. The sound quality on the dock connection to 3.5 mm AUX is apparently much better than using connections from the headphones receptacle. I heard the USB was on European models now and was delayed for 2008 MINIs... do you have a USB?

No I wish I did but I saw this http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...d.php?t=120361

Which suggest some cars shipped about the same time as ours got USB? Am I miss reading this. I got the AUX in line only. I think and I caN let you know the griffin set up lets you use the dock to charges and has a pass through line out to the auX. I need what they call the autopilot for my old ipod mini. The car still smells new!!

The person posting on that is living in Germany, I think he's a US serviceman. I checked all postings by him and he has pictures of the Clubman when they were introduced in Germany ect... Pretty sure you're not going to find USB (probably won't be on my Mini either) until the '08s start shipping.

Re: USB.
It seems nobody in the USA has a USB on a 2007 build yet. You were right about the car being delivered in Germany with the USB although the writer feels it is the exact same build/features as a US delivery!?

Re: New car smell.
It is actually all those toxic chemicals they treat the car finish and upholstery with that you are enjoying! Although, we all seem programmed to a state of contentment with that fragrance...

More rain coming here in Houston tonight.... still hope to Zaino the car on Turkey day... first day without rain but COLD for here.... 50s. I see there is snow and really COLD weather out west. At least I won't need snow tires here.

How manys are people up to? I just reached 210 miles. Had a clear bra put on the front including the lights and I can barely see the line. Maybe its the old eyes. Any complaints yet on your Minis ? None for me, so far love I the car. Only problem is I am still reintroducing my self to a manual after years of an automatic but I am having fun. Can any one tell me the optimium rpm for power and or gas mileage. In retrospect I might have added some other goodies but that will be the next one.
