Ghost ship

Looks like Caribbean Highway disappeared from the Charleston port web site altogether! It was set to arrive on 11/4 (see below) then was gone and never appeared on the docked listing and is not on the previously docked list. It is not even Halloween and my Mini is trapped on a Ghost Ship... probably another Bermuda Triangle mystery. HELP!!!!!impatient

Where did the CARIBBEAN Highway go? It is not on the Charleston port web site as in being port or as being scheduled in the next 30 days. Hope it is in BALTIMORE and not all Minis down with the ship

We must have posted at the same time... the listing was there this weekend and is now gone! Not docked, not scheduled to dock and not post-docked.
The route was to take it to Charleston FIRST then to Baltimore before heading back across the pond. Arrgghhh..... The K-Line site has it showing up in Charleston on November 7th.... then in Baltimore on the 10th...

see their PDF schedule file at:
http://www.kline.com/KAMCarCarrier/S...g_Schedule.pdf

The Charleston port site is going through some problems right now (at 8:30 AM central time) today anyway)... the listings are all messed up not even showing ship names. Will check on it later... maybe our ship will appear soon.
website: http://www.port-of-charleston.com/vessel_schedule.asp

update: 9 AM central time: the site is fixed but the Caribbean Highway is STILL not listed.... gulp.....

Ship not on website but at least found!

I called the Port of Charleston. The shipping was messed up because of Hurricane Noel and not everything is posted on the web site. The nice lady in the department dealing with shipping told me the Caribbean Highway was to dock there tomorrow November 6th and unload Wednesday November 7th.....

I was going to tell her there were a few of us out there wondering if our cars were at the bottom of the ocean. Turns out, she had the information at hand without needing any explanations so I decided to make it short and sweet. I am glad to know some friend of Davy Jones is not tooling around the bottom of the ocean in my Mini!

As of 5 AM this morning (November 7th) Caribbean Highway has gone missing again.... Arrrghhhh....
I will check the port schedule by phone later today to find out what is up unless someone else does it first and posts the results.

Great!
It went from missing altogether to having arrived yesterday afternoon.
Looking forward to seeing it before Thanksgiving!

Apparently there is no way to track a Mini through the VDC....
(but see the sticky 1st gear thread "Inside The Port Hueneme Vehicle Distribution Center" for what goes on.)
Since that is where they repair shipping damage and install some options - a delay there would be of concern.
I think the owners lounge will let us know (delayed probably) when it is on the way from the VDC but the dealer MA would know more specifically about estimated arrival date.
The weather in Charleston is very nice about 50 right now and clear so I don't think weather will slow down the unloading or transportation from Charleston to St. Louis (for you) and Houston (for me) if it holds up! It is supposed to stay clear and in the 60s at least through next Tuesday in South Carolina.
Let me know when you get yours! I note you have a Laser blue also but with black stripes/roof. Union Jack mirrors sound like a nice touch.

I take it from your handle that you have a lab. My wife is a veterinarian and we have a greyhound, pug and 5 cats. The dogs should love the Mini.

Hopefully we both have cars tha twill sail through the VDC. It is a bummer you can't directly track the cars so you know there is no damage. In regards to the handle, I do scientific research. Since I run the the lab, I went with the name which I used previously in a different forum. however I do love dogs and my daughter is in the early admissions program as a freshmen at U of Missouri at Columbia to be a vet. It's a sweet deal if she keeps her grades up its an automatic in to the program.

Thanks for the info.
My daughter is finishing a masters in harp performance - but who knows about a job. My son is at Univ of Texas in psychology... no one wanted to follow in our footsteps although I am sure they will like to take the Mini out when they come to town.

It depends on the backlog and any problems that have to be taken care of at the VDC. At least it should be here before turkey day!

I have not come up with a name either... guess I will have to drive the car for awhile before it lets me know.

Now that the CH has left port and our MINIs are closer I have begun to wonder whether I will drive mine when the salt and sand goes down on the St. Louis roads this winter. Is anyone else considering holding on to your old car to drive in bad conditions this year?

We really don't have much of a winter in Houston. The Mini will be my daily driver. There must be a thread or two about protection against road salt and sand..... somewhere.

Now that we are off the boat has anyone jump the gun and call their MA about delivery yet?

I believe our cars enter a communications "black hole" at this point... If the stay in the VDC is long - then the MA may be able to put a "priority" or something on it to see what is going on... for example: damage/repairs or software or mechanical updates required since the car was produced. Once the car is set for transport out, I think the information may be available to the MA again but the website lags behind a few days usually.
Last time I had delivery on our prior Mini - I believe we received the "call" about about a week later (from VDC arrival) that it had arrived at the dealer.
It would not hurt to call just in case there is some information out there, but the communications blackout from VDC to delivery appears to be common.
