R56 Production Week 41 Support Group!
Have not called yet.....would you get a real person on a Saturday night?
I ordered a MCC in MY.....chrome line exterior, black bonnet stripes, cold weather and premium package and of course when it arrives at the dealer an alarm system. Course when it arrives I will be driving w/ the top down no matter how cold.....at least a few times.

is the alarm something that is only added at the dealer? That is one thing i had ordered but did not see on my specs in the OL
Remember, the Mini's are built in Oxford and have to be moved to Southampton docks - don't be surprised if it has to wait its turn and that could be SEVERAL days. My week 37 Mini was finished on the 6th or 7th of Sept and it did not make it on a ship until the 18th... sometimes it goes faster somethimes people have missed more than one ship (who knows why) - it happens... other times I have read very Short times between completion date and ship date... Just a warning from reading here on the forum...
theres something wrong with that...there are 2 places to order the alarm...one toward the begining of the configurator ($400) which my MA told me is the whole price...then 1 at the end in the dealer add ons ($225 without installation) which my MA said with the cost per hour of labor would make it $25-$50 more than doing it the first way.
I wonder if they put it in at the VDC?
okay, so according to the most recent data available from the NHTSA (2004), 11 MINI Coopers were stolen, of 31,126 imported... so you had a 0.035% (11 / 31126 * 100) chance of your car being stolen. in 2003, you had a slightly higher chance, at 0.045%... 2002, it was 0.047%... in other words if those numbers still hold true today -- and i see no reason why they wouldn't -- there's a better than 99.95%(
) chance that your new car will not be stolen this year.
personally, i plan to skip the ~$400 alarm and carry a theft policy with a very high deductible.

yeah but i still think the alarm is best for causing attention...if you are parked in area with people walking by they will notice it (especially the man in the ski mask next to it hehe) I know when i hear 1 it is annoying but i still look to the car cuz i want to know which 1 is annoying me...if you dont have 1 the attention is never gotten and your prescious mini is gone forever....personaly id say my car is worth $400.....and if you are in a parking lot with patrolling security they actually do go to a car that has an alarm going off (ive seen it haha)
I suppose. It all comes down to what makes you comfortable. If they're gonna steal it, i'd prefer that it be gone -- check please. If they break a window, and are scared off by the alarm, I'm stuck with a busted car and the deductible. It's a calculated risk.

then i tried to call tonight to see my mini's evening plans and the guy told me the tracking was down but call tomorow and he will be glad to help
When i said i wanted to track my mini he answered me with my name and i said am i that obsessive with calling? haha
but he said that my info is pulled up when my phone number comes through (love the little touches mini has
)
) its nice tho how they do that...when i called this morning and just said i wanted to track it the lady said "are you anxious?" (she said it nicely too...you can tell they like to hear how excited their customers get for their products you know?)
i'd bet a dollar that the automated system associates calling phone numbers (obtained by caller-id) with the production number each time you call. from that, it'd be very easy to look up the rest of your information for the customer service agent. (i write software, and that's how i'd do it.)
