Guys I added a picture of the whip. There she is. Completely stock. Will be making my first install of the Aero grille next weekend. Will keep you posted with photos.

Just FYI - This photo was taken on the top of the College Ave parking deck at Rutgers. I am going to try to get out to the Stadium tonight to take some shots in front of the Hale center with the glowing R

Hey guys

Thought I would say a quick hello! I just got my hands on a 2004 Chili Red Cooper S with Sport Package. The car had only 3500 miles on it when I bought it from Princeton, and I got it for a steal.

No thats not a typo, 3500 miles.

I've jumped head first into the modding. Ordered myself the aero grille, Alta intake diverter, Palo Uber Scoop, Alta Catch can and some new OEM floormats (Mine only has the rubber mats).

Im planning on ditching my runcraps for some stickier summer rubber and upgrading the intake, pulley, ecu software, and rear sway bars.

Anyone have any suggestions on their favorite rubber? I noticed the Eagle F1 GS-D3's dont come in our size. I like the look of the Yoko AV ES100's but Im worried they wont be sticky enough (I have pirelli euphoria's at the mo)

I'd love to hear from anyone around the area and learn about the nuances of the car. I live in New Brunswick and work in Parsippany. Drop me a line

-Rich B

check out nemini.org as they organize regular meets.

PortMCS organized a coffee meet at Starbucks in Linden on Fridays. He is currently in Europe right now but I am almost positive that we will have one when he comes home.

see you on the road...

welcome aboard. That's a "fun" commute. rt 287 back and forth? At least it ain't rt 80.

As for nuances, drive it stock for a while and go from there. There is one thing to look out for; the "mushrooming" of the front strut towers and the cracking of the front strut bushings. As we are blessed with less than stellar road surfaces in north NJ, potholes are not your friend.

Otherwise, enjoy!

Welcome to NAM, it appears you have a plan and found a great 04 CR with super low miles.

What was the reason for the low miles on the MINI, someone to busy to drive?

Anyway and for what ever reason, it appears you have almost new 04.

Enjoy and have fun making it your own.

Also, whats the best quality front strut bar to go with? I want to take this mushrooming strut problem out of the equation right away.

There is another approach, but requires more work and possibly more NVH. Camber plates. the fixed Ireland ones use a beefier plate to mount a sturdier bushing.

As for a strut bar, do not over torque (25 ft/bs if I recall correctly) or you will snap a bolt. And that's a lot of sad.

Oh Im always careful with torque specs... been there done that.

Just so I can get this question out of the way in the Noob section, so I dont get flamed in the modding section

The Alta straight thru intercooler looks like its a little better quality than the M7 DFIC.

Im sure there are plenty of opinons on this, but is there any significant difference in performance between the two?

I was thinking about going with the M7 DFIC because I just bought the Palo Uber Scoop and Alta Diverter, and all in all it adds up to only about 200 less than the DFIC kit, and I might as well go with that if its only 200 bucks.

The question is, is it worth it?
