S4 to a MINI, New owner

Hello everyone on NAM. Just purchased my first MCS. Its an 04 with 27k miles. Dark silver/ white top, white bonnet stripes. Has sport, premium, and cold weather packages, and also HK sound system.

Im pretty excited about getting it. My S4, while alot of fun and more than enough power, is just getting to expensive to maintain with 95k miles. Plus I drive way too much have something that bad on gas. Im looking forward to meeting everyone on here!

While only lurking now, I'm probably going to make the S4 to Mini change as well. Just out of curiosity, did you consider going to an R56 instead of an R53? I've rented an R53 S on three trips. Although I've enjoyed it, I'm really curious to see how the turbo feels compared to the supercharger. Coming from a turbo charged car (did you have a B5 or something more recent?), I'd like to hear your impressions. The other thing I missed when driving the MCS on those trips were the seats in my S4. Let me know what you think!

The 04 im buying is still the supercharged version... And I am going to miss the seats of the S4. Plus my B5 S4 (2000) was the only year to come with white leather. It had nav and all other options (grey birch and cold weather). it was a great car but in the first year of ownership I put around 5k into it. Still runs great, just a bunch of small things like any B5 owner is used to. I cant wait to get into the mini though, it handles alot better than the pig im driving now, which is what im more concerned with.

Do you by any chance live near Worcester,MA?

Welcome to the NAM, this is a great forum, it's funny Mini enthusiasts seem to have had the same or similar previous cars, I was extremely close to buying an S4 ( Maxima 6spd instead) but got scared off for the vary same reasons you are getting out. You'll love the Mini for sure and I think you'll be very pleased with the reliability, I've had mine for the 8 months now and nothing as gone wrong yet during that time with my Maxima ( same year and mileage as the Mini btw) I replaced the front bearings, coil packs and it was a major oil burner!!!!!. A happy Mini makes a happy owner and happier people on this forum vs other forums.

Welcome Aboard and I have to say - I'm impressed with your change! The S4 is a really nice vehicle - but then again - so is the MINI in a different way. Happy Motoring!!

The service wasnt the deal breaker though. I work for Audi in Natick MA so most of the work was done either here or at KTR in Ayer. All that work could have easily gone to 8k if i didnt have some sort of hook up for parts and labor. The S4 was an amazing machine, and very classy, but before i could even chip it or begin to modify it everything started going wrong. Like 3 wheel bearings going at once.

Im picking up the MINI today between 4-5. Cant sit still at work, im pretty excited.
