Thanks. I don't need the files as I'm able to do the edits for myself if needed. I just thought that it might be a good idea to post them here for other folks who read the thread and are interested. IMHO it would be better to post a link to them here than to have folks PM you for them. There's probably lots of folks who would use them but just don't want to bother you with a PM.

 

You might be right.. about people not wanting to PM me.. but really it is ok... The worse that could happen is that I don't respond... the best is that you might get a "custom" MINI Nuvi icon .

Some time in the future.. I hope to have the parts for the master file I mentioned earlier.. I would be interested in uploading that file to somewhere... Then new readers can download that file and get a jump start on creating their own icon..

Anyway, nice to see us chatting again..

 

No worries... If you ever need/want a place to host the files, I'd be more than happy to offer up a small amount of space on my server to the cause.

 

Well whata ya know... It looks like Garmin has just added SRF vehicle icon support to their Mobile XT platform as well. Here are some shots of my custom MINI vehicle icon driving around on my Sony Ericsson W950i cell phone (eat your heart out iPhone owners ):

Oh oh oh, is it too late to ask now? I just got my Nuvi after Thanksgiving and would loveee to have a mini icon. Mine is Mellow Yellow, white top w/ sun roof, no bonnet stripes. Could anyone help please?

I tried and tried, and just can not find the skills required to change the file to match my Lightning Blue/Black MCS with bonnet stripes... If anyone has come close, please let me know... I would also be willing to host files for all the different color combinations, and perhaps put them in a sticky somewhere on the forum here?

 

I would still love a purple/silver with silver stripes if someone can make it for me.

For the those still following this and maybe waiting for icons.. I am having "challenges" trying to create the black hood stripes that look "nice"... So requests with those are hard to do, right now..

RobSpook - along those lines I can get you a Laser Blue with Black roof ( no stripes) pretty easily right now... Would you be interested in that one??

Seeing as how you're doing this on your own time at no cost to me, I would take anything you gave me and still say a big THANK YOU even it turned out to be hot pink with lavender hood stripes! (And please don't get any funny ideas now...)

Well I have had some time this week.. Fighting a cold and "stuck at home"... So I have been passing the time with these projects...

I am also having trouble making the black stripes look good. I also darkened up the green some as well though I don't think it is quite right yet. Time has been rather limited lately for me.

I have just got the Garmin Nuvi for my CooperS and looking for a place to get icons from, found this thread. Can anyone help me out with this:

Chili Red / White top with sun roof / white stripes / spot lamps.
(roof-rack nice but not essential)

Just spent a good hour distracted by the pics of the new mini... much better way to check out the colour combos that the mini website configurator!

I have a few recent requests that are doable, but.... my main computer is down for a bit and I am working on setting up a new one... Once that is complete... I should be able to get to those icons and sent out...

Well I was able to find some computer time and send out amost of the requests that I recieved. I have an idea on the black hood stripes issue but need to test it out.. So requests with those are still pending..

For those that have offered server space for files.. I am getting quite a collection that I could post up some where... With the number of versions I have some requests can use the same icon file..

is there a dummies guide for this? When i download the srf files, i don't see any pics? I'd love to join the club and get a CR/B cooper icon on my garmin nuvi...

 

To try an help answer your question above.. the steps I have been using are this..

1-Use a USB cable and connect to your Nuvi to your computer.
2-Navigate to the Garmin \ Vehicles directory
... you should see other srf files there.
3- Copy your new MINI (or other srf) file to this directory.
4- Safely remove your Nuvi from the computer.
5- Power on your Nuvi.
6- Select to Tools, Settings, Map, Vehicle
7- Use the scroll arrows to find you new vehicle icon and select OK..
8- Enjoy navigating with your MINI icon in your MINI..
