M7 Stage II Power Pak...?
Hey all, I was doing some looking today online and I came across this power pack by m7. I was curious if anyone had any experience with it? I know there are cheaper options out there but are you getting what you pay for or does it all pretty much do the same thing? Just looking for some general thoughts. Here is the description of the pack from their website: "Our Stage II Power Pak includes our exclusive M7 Speed 2% or 4% crank pulley and the industry's best 16% Supercharger pulley, a new correct length Gates Micro-V drive belt along with our 180oF thermostat".
And the link: http://www.m7tuning.com/r53-mini-coo...power-pak.html
Thanks!

Better off snagging a charger pulley of your choice with the proper belt and plugs, forget the thermostat, and if you want a crank pulley go with a solid design at stock diameter. Many will tell you not to get a crank pulley, that's up to you but the supercharger pulley kit is unanimious as a reliable mod.

Bet you will get alternator charging issues with the 4% crank pulley....
IMO get a dampened pullet...stock or 2%, and a pulley...
Max combined IMO of 17%. More than that tend to be troublsome... Often needing a tune or injectors.
Then IMO get spark plugs, JCW temp...
Otherv places sell kits too...IMO better combo's of parts...
The reduction % choice is largely based on how the car us used (daily driver low rpm cruiser or higher rpm track rat), and where you live (octane and temps)...

I would stay away from the crank pulley unless its a track car. having an undamped crank on a DD scares me, but to each their own, they are much lighter and will give more hp, but the 5-7 hp from the pulley and having that thought of, well my crank is now undamped...... if I was sitting at 5k rpms all day I wouldn't care.
the thermostat may be a little more work than people are willing to put in, but if you have to replace? why not.

Appreciate all the information guys! I think I'll settle on just a charger pulley for now. Maybe the package from WMW. I live in Portland and am thus pretty close to madness motorworks. Any significant problems with their supercharger pulley? I've heard that aluminum can be problematic overtime. I can't imagine stainless steel pulley's would be as popular as they seem to appear if they weren't nearly as efficient as the aluminum ones (seems to be the main marketing point of madness). Also, its hard to beat the price of WMW package...

Getting my supercharger replaced this weekend, I'm debating on ordering this pack or the Alta. I really wish M7 included the ignition upgrade to run with the reduction pulley. The ATI as a $200+ option is pretty sweet. If the Alta power pack included the thermostat and the ATI, it would be a perfect power kit.

Just say no to ignition upgrades on the R53. Stock coil and wires are very good so it will just be wasted money. The MSD's have even caused problems instead of increasing performance. I know a guy that has had three Alta pulleys fail so beware if you go there. We've had a Craven on ours for about 8 years and over 70K mi. I saw in your other post that your wanting over 240 whp, you can PM me if you have questions about how to make it happen.

17% is great for the street, and the 1 step colder plugs are a must with this pulley (aka JCW plugs)
that will get you to 180 whp preety easily, id also get a intake, help that SC breathe

Yes we recommend cold heat range plugs for all pulleys.
We have a package with both for you.

You don't need a thermostat as it doesn't do anything and more likely will give you a check engine light.
Same with the coil stock one is fine. Only need a coil if yours goes bad or gets corroded. The MSD doesn't fit right either, so we use the Screamin Demon.
And don't buy into expensive plug wires they are good at making wallets lighter, but not HP. We have our own WMW Wires cost effective set that makes just the same power the $200 sets don't.
