Looking to get another R53
Good afternoon, everyone:
I originally had a 2005 Pepper White MCS in 2008. I loved the car and enjoyed driving it everywhere. However, I sold it to my mom in 2010 because she needed a car. Now I'm finally looking to get another one. I like the 2005/06 R53s and I'm currently have my eye on two of them right now.
Is there anything that I should be aware of repair-wise since I've been away for about 4-5 years? Thanks in advance for your input & feedback.
Cheers,
Rich

The normal stuff like worn out control arm bushings, broken pass motor mount, broken upper front strut mounts, and oil leaks like the oil pan gasket.
And now they are getting older crank pulleys are pretty common to fail.

I've purchased two used Gen 1 MINIs in the last year and a half. In my experience I recommend you inspect the entire car like you're spending your life savings on it. Not to scare you off but you could easily find yourself with a money pit...especially if you don't do your own wrenching.
If you notice a coolant leak, power steering leak, oil leaks, busted engine mount, busted strut mounts (especially on passenger side if engine mount is busted), worn control arm bushings, slipping clutch, etc. you're looking at between $800 - $1500 easily.
With that being said. Low ball if you must but know what you're talking about so you have a leg to stand on.

Thanks for the awesome feedback & suggestions. It's definitely something for me to be on the lookout for.
