2006 Cooper Air Bag Warning Light

I was vacuuming under the front seats last weekend and the first time I started the car after that, the air bag warning light turned on and has stayed on.

Anybody know how I can take care of this without going to the shop?
Thanks.

No way to take care of it with out an airbag reset tool. You likely hit the connector for the airbag...sucks but you could either invest in a reset tool or go to a mechanic that has one.

Is it a generic tool or specific to Mini?

I think it's BMW and MiNi specific but do not know for sure. I googled a little and saw B200 come up a lot...maybe try to find out if auto zone or some place would know and offer you a return if it doesn't work.

I found a B800 Airbag Reset Tool online that claims to work for BMWs 1994-2003. As I have a 2006 R50, I guess this isn't suitable.

Does anybody have experience with this product?
Also, if I did buy it to try it out, could I cause damage to my car?

Put the seat back in, reconnected, plugged in the B800, read the codes, and DID A RESET! Air Bag light blinked a few times, and went out. Worked on a 2005 MCS...

Glad it worked for you but I was told that the C110 is the more suitable reset tool, so I ordered one last week. Can't wait for it to arrive as things like warning lights drive me crazy! BTW, BMW wanted $100 just to hook it up to the diagnostic computer.

Anybody know if the reset tool can do anything about:
  • Closing all windows using the key
  • Closing passenger window with a quick flip of the switch

At the risk of being completely wrong and a jerk I'm going to say what would make you think a purpose built airbag tool could do either of those things?

Only way to close the windows with the key is the hold it in the door and turn to lock. VWs also have this built in and a company call alientech made a module so that you could use your remote and do it remotely with a set of combinations. You can roll them down by holding the unlock button remotely.

Auto up doesn't exist there is the Ian Culls V7 for that stuff.
