My R53 has an intermittent door lock issue..Sometimes the passenger door works great ..other times it does not and I can't open the door..The key/dash toggle/doors lock when driving/door lock button comes up/ the drivers door works perfectly...everything works..Can anybody shed some light as to what dark forces may be at work here?.

 

 

Thanks for the reply...I'll try looking at the cable...My problem now is I can't open the door from the inside or by the exterior handle...as I said in my previous post everything works it's just the door will not open...I would imagine taking the door card off with the door closed is a real *****...I've done a search and found a couple of things to try so we will see how it goes...

 

Finally got my door open by spraying some Corrosion X in the gap when the door lever is pulled in....

 

Which gap? Specifically where did you spray....I can not get my sons P side door open. Everything works with remote, but door will not open from inside or out :( Thanks

 

Squeeze the handle and you will see this gap.....

I know this is a old thread but did this work for you as well to get your door open? My daughters driver side door wouldn't open from the inside and outside tonight when she came home from work

 

It did not work for my son's. I had him take it to a mechanic. I do not know what he did, but it is working now.

 

I had a similar issue, turned out to be the lock actuator inside the door was going bad.
I ordered a used one from this site, been good ever since. Mine came with the cable like this one.

 

I'm not sure if this is entirely relevant, but on some cars, it takes two pulls of the passenger door handle to open the door.
Similarly if using the key fob, one press releases the drivers door only, two presses (or one long press) releases both doors, the gas cap & hatch.
I believe this varies among years & models; some of it is programmable.
