Owned this car for about 6 months. 2023 Mini Cooper S. Took it to my tire place for alignment and balance. They called me and said the rims should be center centric and these rims don't fit right. The spacer is the wrong size. They told me DO NOT DRIVE. My research looks like I have 815 JCW rims with 225/40/18 tires. Is there a specific spacer I should have to make these rims fit correctly? Here is a pic of the wheel.
It sounds, based on your description, that the spacers that are on the car are 'incorrect'. Likely not hub-centric design and the reason the tire shop is waiving the red flag at you and they have to legally state "do not drive" for their own liability. The once ECS recommends are hub-centric, which you can tell by the center flange on one side and the recess on the other to mate up to the hub flange and keep everything nice and centered. The longer wheel studs are also needed to keep the factory amount of thread engagement to the hub flange.
