SSR Comp 16x7 & Avon M500 - RESCINDED

Selling last year's autocross setup. The Avons still probably have about 5K miles left, or 2 or 3 good hard autocrosses.

$900 for the set (aluminum centering rings included)

Edit: Forgot to mention the tire size: 215/50WR16

See my gallery for pictures. There are only 3 because I can only find good pictures of those 3 wheels. They're currently wrapped up in the shed, or I'd go snap brand new pictures.

too bad they are not 7.5's. You probably don't want to part them, but, if so, how much with no tires?

The tires are functionally irrelevant to me. I'm not interested in paying someone to unmount them, because I'd just have to pass those prices along to the purchaser. Besides, these tires really are fabulous at the autox, especially at their current tread-depth.

Why is it too bad they're not 7.5's?

Shipping will cost more than dis-mounting if you leave them on rather than box the wheels. I won't use the tires if I buy them, so, thats why I was asking in case you could use them and would knock some off the price along with $50 less in shipping.

If they were 7.5's, I'd buy them for the asking price with the tires since I need some 7.5's in 16. For 7's though, I might do some testing with them in the rear and 7.5's up front if the price would have been reduced with no tires.

Anyway, I guess my explanation is basically not worth much to you, but, does explain your question to my thinking out loud.

It's an interesting discussion though: why do you need 7.5x16? Are you looking to stuff 235's under the front fenders? Most folks will agree that anything over 215 is going to plow like crazy. Unless of course your purpose is to drag-race.

I unfortunately have no further use for the tires, as they're really too wide for the 16x6.5 R83's. They're god-awful sticky, though. They really surprised me and everyone I've done mountain runs with (I had no problems keeping up with even the seriously modified S'es because I had gobs of traction--and big brakes).

I had considered keeping the wheels and wrapping them in 215/40R16 Kumho V710's, but that would move me to FSP in autocross, and I'm tired of constantly re-classing myself (I've been SM, STX, STS, and I don't want to move back UP).

Well, there is always H-Stock. That'll move you way down and give you super sticky tires. But then you have a lot to "change back to stock".

UP).
As far as width, 7.5 is marginally better than 7 for autocross when dealing with even a 215 width in street tire class and probably a V710 as well IMHO. 225/45(Z212 Hankook) is a bit on the tall side, especially for a regular Cooper, but, with the JCW in STX class with full bore mods, it can handle the extra height and still put the power down OK I'm sure. The wider the better IMO for the Mini's up to their fitment threshold, at least up front, possibly a slightly smaller stagger could be used in the rear if the Mini doesn't rotate with the same dimension tire in the rear, although, camber, toe out, swaybar stiffness, coilover height, shock stiffness all play a roll in the rear as well of course, so, some very very extensive testing would need to be done to find out. :-)

Anyway, I'm still thinking about buying your wheels as a test for the rear, I'll know more after this weekend and maybe we can work something out, thats if they are still available. ;-)

I am rescinding my offer of these wheels & tires. Suddenly, mysteriously, they're working better than ever, and I'd forgotten just how mean they look on the car.

They will soon be shod in 205/40R16 Falken Azenis RT-615's, and my little Cooper will be mean as hell in STS.

Thanks for the interest, and for re-invigorating my interest in these great (if battle-scarred) wheels!
