These wheels are like lead weights and no one likes the $400 fragile runflat tires. I took mine off too and my car performs totally different. I wonder why MINI uses such parts. I've seen a lot of them for sale.
Yes, the OEM rims are a little heavier then some of the aftermarket Rims, but some of us like the OEM rims classic styling over the "boy racer" look. Many, like myself, like to stick with OEM accessories. If you were to purchase these tires new to upgrade a set of 16s or 15s, the cost of the rims and tires would be over 2K at the dealer, so this is a nice package for someone who wants to move up and stay with a quality OEM Rim. I just paid approx. $1,100 for a slightly used set of R98s and tires, and was happy to get them. The R90s and R98s are some of the nicest looking Rims mini offers. You can replace the run flats when they are worn with nicer running non run flats, but getting a set like this is almost like getting a set of tires or rims for free.
