Day Trips In Florida
Ocala natl forrest
The trip from Ocala to Jacksonville thru Ocala National Forrest is nice. Curvy and hilly roads thru the forrest, with nice scenery on the way.
The road numbers escape me right now, should be easy to find on mapquest.
I live in Tampa, but end up in Jville every 6 months or so with work.

Close to Jax there are a few good drives, nothing sport or aggressive, but nice roads.. Sunshine Minis always has things to do here in the Sunshine state!!
St Augustine.. Savannah Ga.. Back roads to Ocala.. or back roads to Tampa, ..
Just a few thoughts..

For a nice drive take A1A north to Fernandina Beach.Take A1A north from the Jacksonville beaches to Mayport and cross the inlet on the ferry boat. The drive north from there is scenic and the old town of Fernandina has shops and restaurants to enjoy.

there a lot of places to GO in FL but sadly few fun roads to get you there!
Having lived in north bay San Fran for a while and enjoyed all the wonderful coast roads there (in a Miata)
and later in Norfolk area of VA where you could quickly find hilly twisty roads thru farm country to the west or south (had a Miata and an 02-s and a 79 in these years),
and some New England time . . . fall colors in the back roads of Conn' ....
I think I know a good road when I drive one - good by our MiNi twisty standards - (I've done MOTD as well)
Florida is flat .... and roads between two flat places tend to be straight and flat - nothing like a Pacific Coast road!!!! I've lived on both coasts of Florida - both flat - and in the end when I take the classic out here in Melbourne/Cape Canaveral/Orlando it is more CRUISING than driving. A 2 hour drive is highlighted by two fun twisties of 2 turns in a row ..... one of those involves a highway on ramp!

Have not been to Clermont and may have to take a few hours next time I head Orlando way. However, for reference this hunk of 1 in California just north of Golden Gate park was a favorite. The elevation changes would make your ears pop and driving a convert' I'd have the heat running when up high. You get so close to the cliffs that .... well my son wouldn't ride with me after a couple of times, he was afraid we'd go over the edge. He was early teens but still doesn't like roller coasters!

If you ever get there also drive thru Golden Gate Park immediately north of the bridge. After a long beautiful climb along the cliffs to the top overlooking the bay entrance, you reach a down slope towards the light house and the first thought entering your mind will be "are my brakes in good shape?"
That's not a hill .... THIS is a hill ... I must go see if I can find some pictures - b4 the days of digital . . . in my house anyway
no ... not the Dragon .... here the 300 turns are over many more miles . . .

Use the National Parks as a place to go. They are usually in out of the way places so you should enjoy the roads....well you are in florida...Did you know FL has a Tail of the Dragon as well. 11 Turns in 300 miles
If you do go to the National Park don't forget to get your Passport Book and get INK while you are there. The INK are the cancellations Stamps.

oh hopefully the Castra...er Seqestration doesnt kill the visits to the NP's
