Your thoughts: Toyo T1R or Goodyear F1-DSG3?

I'm on the fence regarding new tires. For summer only, I'm considering the Toyo T1R's or the Goodyear F1-DSG3's. I want great road-holding dry or wet - we do get quite a bit of rain during the summer in the northeast, low road noise and as smooth a ride as one would expect on a 45-series, 17" tire. I may autocross once or twice a year and maybe a track day or two. If I get serious about autocross or track, I'll probably get dedicated tires and wheels.

So which would you choose and why? If you've had both tires please compare the two for me.

Tnx!

GS-D3's.

you're like comparing GS-D3's to HTR+'s.

Hey Ken,
I don't understand your reply. Do you mean Sumitomo HTR+?? They are all season high performance, not summer only. I know the GS-D3's are highly thought of, but do you like or dislike the T1r's?

Not knockin you, just interested in your opinion if you have driven on the Toyo's........

Happy Easter to all!!

i love the GSD3s, Ken converted me to these tires couple of years ago. T1Rs are decent tires, but they are narrow comapred to equal size width tires.

I just put my goodyears back on, and they feel like home. Can you tell I love them? I love them, especially in the rain.

Thanks! OK - the Goodyear's it is.

Found a New England-based tire retailer that beat (by a few pennies) Tire Rack's price for a set of GY's & wheels, mounted, balanced, center caps, mounting hardware, free rotations and road hazard. I like buying locally, if possible. Pays to shop around.

not that you need anymore convincing but the GSD3 is a great tire.
I had them on my Audi A4 and they were great in the dry, but they REALLY shine in the wet. I even put 3 track days at the Poconos on them and they performed great.

+1 on the Eagle F1 Gs-D3's!

Far superior to the Kumho Ecsta SPT's I was running previously.

Agree on the GSD3. I run them on the mini on 18inch wheels (think its a 225 or a 235/30 R18, cant remember), but the grip is pretty phenomenal and they are wearing very well.

i personally do not care for toyo tires. my choice of tires are:
BS S03/050PolePosition, GY GS-D3, MichPilot for my hobby cars.

I have T1R's now. Great tire, but the GY is a superior tire, albeit for more money. I think the Toyos have excellent wet weather grip too, but tend to wear VERY quickly. I only have 10k miles on my current set and they are on the wear bars.
