Yes, screwed! That is, this weekend I picked up a phillips head screw in one of my run-flat tires.

I took my car down to a tire chain store and they were able to repair it with one of those patch/plugs, even though it was close to the sidewall. Of course he had to rebalance the tire. We found it was slightly out of balance. So I asked how much to get the other three balanced as well and the price was reasonable. So out of the four tires/wheels on the car only one of them was still in balance. I've only got 4900 miles on the car. So I suggest for those of you serious about tire care and maintenance to check the factory balance. It's not expensive and it's probably time for you to get a rotation done anyhow.

Is tire rotation and balancing part of the "free" 10K service? I honestly can't remember, nor can I remember if it was done at my 10K service.

You got screwed and I got nailed recently...bought a new tire, had it mounted and in checking the nailed tire....it did not penetrate completely. Now to find a wheel and I've got a spare.

This is cheesy but: Now you have to yank the screw out and plug the hole with rubber.

FYI...You should rotate and re-balance your tires every 5000 miles. To get to 4900 and then having to do it is pretty much standard maintenance for tires along with monthly pressure testing while they are cold.
