Ditch Dunlop Run Flats for Yoko - Parada ?
Ditch Dunlop Run Flats for Yoko - Parada ?
I need a push to get a new set of Yokohama Parada's ordered and ditch my Dunlap SP9000 Run Flats, (700 miles on them) while they still may have some value left in them.
I have heard nothing but 'dump the RF's' over the past few months I have had my mini, but having only driven new MCS's, I don't know otherwise.
She is going to have to go up for the winter here in the new few weeks
...but with 2-day delivery at Tire Rack ...I could log a few before the long winters nap.
Thoughts anyone ....

I've had Paradas before but they didn't last very long. I just got 4 Avid H4s from TireRack and they are very quiet and the handling is good. I've got 17" wheels and went with 215/45/17's, replacing 215/40/17's. The 40's had a section height of 86mm and the 45's is 96mm compared to the stock 92mm on 205/45/17's.
Go for it!
I've heard nothing but bad things about the run flats. The guys at Palo Uber Mini HIGHLY reccomend the Parada's. They have been fantastic to me spending far more time than necessary for the amount of business I've given them. Plus the Yoko's just aren't that expensive. Worth a shot! I'm still looking for some rims, but plan on using the Parada's for my summer shoes. Keeping my Dunlop RFs for the mild winter here in NC.
Good luck!

I was in the same position you were when my OEM runflats (Pirellis) came due at 16Kmi. After much research I went with the Spec-2s. Aside from the difficulty that they had getting the runflats off the rims (talk about stiff sidewalls!), the whole experience has been great.
The tires have substantially more grip - I thought the car handled good with the OEM tires, but is working at an altogether higher plane now. They have good, linear feel, well-behaved transient response during turn-in, and transmit reasonable road inputs through the wheel. A clear indication of their superior grip is that I get into the DSC much less often than I used to with the runflats. As you've already read, the ride quality is a big improvement (most noticeable on expansion joints), and they definitely require air less often.
The only things I can't vouch for yet are wet weather performance (I live in the southwest, so that's not as big a concern as elsewhere), and wear - although that one may be difficult to compare, since I'm driving the car a lot harder than before and am probably doing my part to use them up. But then again, I didn't buy them to last 50kmi!
