Anyone running Kumho Ecsta MX 17"?

Just wore out my second set of runflats (last set were Bridgestone Potenza 50A -Great cornering and sticky, but only got 7,000 miles out of them). Thinking about Kumho Ecsta MX 's They seem to make two types - non-runflats (MX) and runflats (MX XRP). Anyone run either of these? Any comments on performance and treadlife would be appreciated.

7,000 miles out of your tires? You drive like Mario Andretti?

The Ecsta MX runflats are only for vettes (unless you have a way to fit them on your MINI...haha). Most people suggest non-runflats anyways if you can handle the "fear" of not having a spare because of price, performance, ride, and tread life. According to tirerack's review, the Ecsta MX seems like a good tire and it is cheap for sure.

Seriously, if you only got 7000 miles out of your tires, I would get your alignment checked. I'll bet you have too much toe in the front or rear (very common problem)

BTW, Kumho is coming out with a replacement for the MX. They were supposed to show it at SEMA, but now they are saying it will be another month. I don't have any idea it they are going to release a run-flat. Sorry...

I wish too much toe was the answer. The Bridgestones were just incredibly gummy. The alignment was done twice and I rotated them every 3K!!! I loved them, however, I just can't see getting only 7K from a run-flat that runs almost $200/tire. Thanks, though, I'll have 'em check the toe again.

Oh and no, not Mario -more like Rauno Aaltonen!!!

i am running the 215-40-17's i have had no problems with them and they where good in the dry and wet for me. i have also used them on the track and liked them. they are a good tire and you will like them. stay away from RF tires and you will gain a lot of performance and a much better ride.

I highly recommend them. I have 215 x 45 x 17.

I had BFG KDW's in 215 x 40 x 17 and hated them. Before that Nitto Neo Gen's and in the same size and hated them.

Go for the Kumho MX.

i have kumho mx on my M Roadster and think they are a great tire for a great price. They hold almost as well as the original Michelin Pilot Sports, but scream louder than the Michelins as they approach their limit. I like them better than the Michelins and not just because they cost less than half as much.

How do the Kumhos hold up on extended highway jaunts? I want to buy them for the track days I'll be doing this year, but I'm also going to be driving to them. My track days will be about 350 miles from home (so 700 miles of highway driving over a weekend, plus track miles), and I'm also going to the Dragon (2,000 miles of highway driving in just a few days).
