215/45/17 on 7" wide rims?

I fear that my Kosei K1 racing rims may no longer be round, and am looking for a new set of 17" rims for 215/45/17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 rubber. After doing some searching, I find that most of the rims I like are 17x7 rather than 17X7.5. Can this size tire be safely run on a 7" wide rim?

Don't be overly confident they will work. I have 7 inch wide aftermarket rims. I just replaced my 205/45/17 BFGoodrich KDW2s with 215/45/17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s. The 2 fit on back just fine, but they rubbed badly in front, so the tire center took the front ones off and replaced them with my lesser worn old tires. The F1 GS-D3s don't come in 205 width anymore, so I am stuck now with the decision what to do next.

Is the offset listed anywhere on the wheel?

It may be stamped on the backside of the wheel

I believe the K1 racing rims have a 45 mm offset. My question actually had more to do with the tire losing its bead because there wasn't enough rim for the tire width. I hadn't even thought of the rubbing issue...

I have the Konig Crosshairs 17x7 w/ 40 offset...215/45/17.. it comes down to the offset plus i have the JCW suspension. very slight rub in the rear. absolutly no sign of having problems with the tires losing its bead.

It should not be a problem. I'm running 225x45x17 on original S-lites = no rubbing.

If they rub is because the wheel off-set NOT because the 215 or 225 size, there is room for up to 225 wide tires. With the wrong off-set even the 205 would rub.
