Tell me what you guys think of this... R90 replicas... but only 1 piece

What does a set of new R90's run? What does a set of these weigh? If you are going aftermarket I would get the strongest lightest wheels you could buy.

 

a new set of real R90's without tires goes for about $1600+ at the dealer

 

Purchase the real thing !! Even if you have to purchase a set used..

The R90's are the best looking (IMO for the Mini) !!

 

Contacted eBay and these wheels are in fact one piece, the screws to make it look like a two-piece wheel are, in fact, fakes and the wheels are 22 lbs. each - two pounds lighter than the MINI R90's. Would really like to hear of anyone who knows of someone or has bought them. How a wheel's quality could be up to speed with a MINI R90 that sells for three times the amount? That, I am interested in as well!!!

 

I just assume buy the real R90s on ebay or on the boards... you can find em I did... and sometimes it appears you can pay less than the replicas I paid $720 with tires though, replicas were going for $599 or $699 i think. Just my two cents

 

The wheels from MINI are overpriced, IMHO> Not to say the replicas are gonna be a great wheel, but for less than the R90 price there are a lot of other great forged wheels out there.

 

The rims are made by an Italian outfit called Ruotecompany (they do lots of BBS replicas). You should go dig around the MINI2 forums... I remember a while back a bunch of guys went in on a group on these rims, most were pretty happy from what I remember...

 

i'd consider replicas if the package was right. I'd rather get better tires if the rims were identical to the MINI ones,

 

Thanks for the reply and the information archie4oz - I have been on the MINI2 site and have not seen anything under a search with one person who had bought these rims... Any other direction here on this group or other info you might add?
