Torque steer with new wheels??

Just installed Team Dynamics P1.2, 17x7, 45mm offset with a set of Goodyear F1 GSD3 size 215/40X17
I am experiencing a strange phenomenon that seems like torque steer. This did not seem to manifest itself until I installed these new wheels and tires. Perhaps this issue was masked by the 16” all seasons or the 17” performance runs flats that were bald.

-New wheels are torqued properly
-Tires are mounted the correct direction
-All tires have 34 psi
-18,000 miles on car, no damage or pot holes
-I have not had a chance to re-install the S-lite’s with the stock bald performance tires to see if exists with that combo.

I drove it again this evening and it definitely pulls or better "tugs" under power to the left. Accelerate it “tugs” to the left and every shift it tends to "settle" back the right, then “tugs” to the left as you accelerate again.
It will track to the left slightly depending on the crown, so I am leaning towards alignment that must have masked or dulled by the other tires?

My wife has complained about twitchiness, so maybe it has been there for a while; I am usually flogging the poor thing so I do not notice the subtleties that may have been masked by previous tires.

Interesting …. I never experienced such a dramatic change with wheels and tires on all of the cars I have put after market wheels on in the past.

Any thoughts or insights?

your post is all formated wrong, I can see all the code....

Some tires follow the ruts in the road more than others, especially wider tires. I am sure this is what you are experiencing. It is torque steer techincally i guess but its the tires fault really. You should be able to notice it while just driving too, like the car will pull more to follow the ruts in the road.

About the tugging to the left, experiment by driving more the the left or right side of the lane and see if it switches directions. Like if your habit is to be more on the right half of the lane and it pulls left, move more towards the left half of the lane and see if it pulls right.

Actually the test roads are very smooth, no ruts, or grooves. It will pull or tug always to the left under accleration no matter which lane your in, the crown in the road makes it worse but the pull does not switch directions.

give it some time to break-in..
I experience it everytime I swap summer/winter wheels and usually goes away after a few hundred miles.
In other thought, it could just be a bad alignment.. Have you checked if your old tires are worn out properly?

I would for sure do an alignment, but tires can also cause the same symptoms you described {even new tires--have seen it many times}. If alignment doesn't help, try rotating tires front to rear and see if it changes anything. If so I would talk to the tire people.

I just experienced nearly the same symptoms last night, after I switched from my narrower Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires on steelies, to my S-lites and Goodyear Eagle runflats for summer.

I've checked the lug bolts 4 times now, and they're all properly installed, so I think it is just that the wider tires take some getting used to, as VoiD stated.

I seem to remember these symptoms last spring, when I swapped my tires.

Already today, the car seems better already. Perhaps I'm just getting used to it...
