EBC Green vs. Hawk HPS vs. Ferrodo DS2500
I had just purchased a set of Cryo Frozon Powerslot Rotors front rotors for my MCS. When I was about to install it, the instructions said that I MUST use new pads to go with the new rotors.
So among the three (Greenstuff, Hawk HPS and Ferrodo DS2500) which should I go for. I normally drive on city roads, but I do drive hard once the traffic has cleared or as much as I can. I will do 2-3 trackdays a year as well and a bit particualr on the brake dust. Actually, I am already using the Greenstuff pads. They are a great improvement with regards to dust and stopping power compared to stock but they are a bit noisy and I am actually looking for more stopping power. And another complain I have witht the Greenstuff is that the pad's backing plate and clip rusts very easily. When I took off the front pads to swap my rotors, half of the pad actually fell off the backing plate and the clip that holds it in the caliper broke off aswell due to rust.
So what would you guys suggest. By the way, I am a bit confused as to which Hawk pads are better, the Cermaic Pads or the HPS.

Alex,
Are the Hawk Ceramic's braking power similar to stock or would you say that they are an improvement? I'm also in favor of having a firmer pedal, so that's a good point to consider.

How noisy are the DS2500's? Have you tried using EBC Green's? Are they comparable to that?

Have you considered EBC RedStuff? I was very pleased with it's performance/durability and little dust prior to my addition of BBK

HPS with stock rotors and Motul...still not quite enough for the track, but better than stock. These require a little warming and the occasional re-bedding with stock rotors; Take it up to 100mph +/- and hammer the brakes to a near stop. continue to drive until they are cool...preferrably, go home and let them cool completely. DO NOT keep your foot on the brakes after doing this or you'll hot spot rotors.
I'd have to give the nod to the HPS as being one of the most all around street performance pads produced. While they do no release data on them I think I could plot them...they are a very stable pad even up in the higher levels of temperature. When pushed they do not tend to break down but lose their Cf and simply fade. However the recovery is good with little or no transfer issue.
There are pads that offer more initial bite and those that extend the temperature range of the system but few that offer more all around performance. In fact I had a customer run them in his 13" kit at a track day and pretty well beat up on another BBK all day long with them while they were running dedicated track pads. Granted he used them up, but even I was shocked they held up as well as they did.
