Is this a deal or trash?

I ran accross this on a site the other day and wanted to get everyones opinion. I have the infamous S heavies and wanted to get something better but, not break the bank. Just wondering if the wheel manu. is any good.

Thanks!

Looks like a deal...

Get metal hubcentric rings for mounting them up.

Not to sound naive but, is that the same thing as spacer rings - to correct the offset?

No, the hubcentric rings make it so the wheel actually snugly fits the hub to it doesn't wobble

Gothca !! Thanks. This is my first FWD vehicle so, my learning curve is on the lower end of the scale. Thanks for the info.

I haven't heard of that manu. before, that's why I am asking about them.

From what I hear and what I've seen, they are pretty good as far as quality. Edge Racing also should warranty them, so you should be covered that way

Thanks for all of the input guys. Now, the big question - will they look good on an '06 HyperBlue/Black S?

the offset is going to be a lot more aggressive than your stockers so it
will look very sporty. but overall appearance (color and design of your
wheel choice) is all subjective so it's up to you.

i personally like smaller wheels on my MINI.

I think it's a deal

It just so happens that I ordered from Edge racing last week. I went with the Enkei wheels and the TOYO T1Rs. I installed them last night, and so far I'm happy. Took 7 days from order to having them at my front door.

One thing about the hub-centric rings. The wheels come with the polycarbonate ones. I did a little googling on hub-centric rings, and came across this:

Q:

Which ring should I use, those hi-tech looking
aluminum rings or the composite Polycarbonate
plastic?

A: While aluminum rings look Hi-Tech, they actually are not as
good as the composite Polycarbonate plastic rings.
The drum or rotor snout of most vehicles are made of cast
iron, so when a raw aluminum ring is placed directly against
it and even a small amount of moisture gets in, corrosion
occurs almost immediately, making it very difficult to get the
wheel off of the car.
The composite Polycarbonate material acts like an "O"-ring,
eliminating this common problem.

So, not sure if the metal rings are actually better. Anyone else have any experience with these?

I have heard the same thing from a couple of tire/wheel stores. Of course they didn't stock aluminium ones though One of them I have know for over 20 years and he as always been a straight shooter.

Edge racing will supply polycarbonate rings with your purchase. I just got some Flik apex 2 and so far I really like them.

I guess it comes down to the quality of the part.

The plastic I got with the Tire Rack purchase of some Kazeria KZ-Vs didn't fit that tight, and I had issues with vibrations when mounting the wheels on the car.

The Al replacements Alex sent me were a much tighter fit, anodized, and I haven't had a single problem with vibration.

Many, and I repeat, many people have had problems getting their
wheels to center and stay centered properly with the plastic
rings. Try them if you like but you will be much better off with the
metallic rings. If you are worried about galvanic corrosion then
just apply a little anti-seize to them.
