Anybody rubbing on 215/45/17's?

I just changed out my 15" stock wheels on my MCC to 215/45/17 based on lots of posts that they don't rub. My suspension is stock. I get an occasional rub on turns moderate speed with a wide gutter. But today got back wheel rub going across another street at about 40mph with a wide, not so deep gutter. Does the extra weight of the conv. make the difference? On the back it seems to rub on the back of the black trim. Do I need to go to the recommended 205/45/17? Thanks

What offset are your wheels? I run 205/45-17 on an et45 offset no rubbing. It could be the 205 may be your best bet.

I have a stock MC with 215/45/17 snow tires on S-Lites with no rubbing whatsoever.

I think the offset is 45mm, but it was in the 40-50mm recommedations.

which tire? if ES100's GSD3's and other tires with wide shoulders could
rub depending on the camber setting. (05, 06)

I had some massive rubbing over bumps even with only me in the car and no extra weight (besides me ) running on 215/45/17 Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S on 17" SSR comps (+42, 17x7.5).

'Twas quite annoying. I even trimmed my wheel well lining but I still got rubbing.

Now that I'm running 15" holies, I don't get squat...though my car is now about 2" lower.

Runs a lot better than with the 17's though!

why don't you try 215/40/17s? i am happy with them, no rubbing (h-sport 1" drop) at all, smooth drive, but considering that i am coming from 215/35/18s and previously RFs

215/45-17... lowered with eibach springs, ive tried 45mm offset, no problem
42mm offset on half worn tires, no problem
40mm offset on winter half worn tires, rubbing on big bumps with more than 2 people in the car

hope this helped

also, it maybe good to know rear camber is at 2.5 degrees right now

I just had some 215/45/17of these put on my car this weekend. I have rubbing only when I go over deep bumps. I'm pretty sure it's in the rear. I've got a 35-50 pound sub box back there though, so that's probably why. I'm not so sure how it's going to go over when I get the H-sport springs I've got on order...

Thanks for the input. I am reluctant to go 215/40/17 because of stiffer ride and lower weight limits (I frequently have my 2 girls in the backseat). It does rub in the back on deeper stuff, but forsure on the outside front on turns with moderate dips. I will just finish these tires out and replace with 205/45/17 stock size next.
