5 stud conversion possible?

Hi Everyone

Ive grown tired of finding rims that i love only to realise they are 5 stud and not 4 stud pattern.

Does anyone know if its possible to do a 5 stud pattern conversion on the MCS? Might be a silly question but i thought id ask.

Thanks for the help.

I heard it is not a safe thing to do unless you really want to compromise the performance for looks.

its a real simple job, as long as the holes are maked out correctly, equally spaced and centered on the roto, the only other potential problem would be that the holes were fdrilled at and agle, thats kinda hard to do when the roto is secured to the mounting surface of a mill.

Do a search. Not like this hasn't been discussed before.

"five lug conversion"

There a long thread on it. In summary; forget about it.

no, take the brake rotors off the car and have them redrilled and tapped for a 5 lug pattern, whatever size pattern you would like.

Do you guys even have a clue what you're talking about?

"redrill and tap the rotors to the five lug" ??

What do the rotors have to do with this? Take the car apart, review how it's all held together and get back to us on it.

You're probably better off getting rims custom drilled, some shops might be willing to special order you some wheels from the factory with the proper offset and lug holes/spacing.

It's un-safe if you're considering modifying the stock components. Otherwise, a five bolt set-up is stronger than a four bolt.

With regard to the Honda, Acura Type-R (becasue they're easier to get) components are used; larger axles and CV joints, bearings, brakes, calipers and rotors - oh and new wheels. About $5,000 dollars...

The plus side, the NSX calipers will fit Type-R hubs...add another, I don't know, $2,000.00

All said, this is a bolt-on modification with readily available parts that costs $5,000-$7,000 dollars. Dunno what a properly designed and built one-off would be for a Mini - lots more.

well, with a body kit like that, you can fit a 25mm lug conversion spacer...
but on a typical MINI, you'll have to find a wheel like in the +70mm.

Thinking back on this one for you, if you retain the current bolt circle and simply convert to 5 lug that's not going to be as much of a problem. You'll re use one of the current holes and have two others very close to the old ones. If, on the other hand, you want to got to a larger BC then you've got a mess on your hands.
