Going to be getting replacement tires for my 16" MCS wheels (V-spoke?). Seems the best way is to do a 205/50, no? Please correct me if I'm wrong. But that aside, which would you pick for an aggressive driver that commutes in the NW( ...aka WET)? Are there others I'm not considering...like what is the "Anzenis" that I've seen mentioned??

THANKS!!!

I've been having the same debate with replacing my runflats. I was also looking at the Yoko Parada tires, haven't really been able to talk to anyone with them.

My personal testing showed the Es100 the supirior in water. Parada spec 2 is second (better than gen 1) Mx's are my least favorable in water conditions. All of my road test were done in dry, however I have evaluated all 3 on our test track in water. Our evaluation track has a build in sprinkler system to keep things damp and even. In dry MX is 1st, Es100 is 2nd, Parada is 3rd.

Pardon my ignorance...but which are the MX and which are the Es100?

But thanks for the advice! Did I get the tire size correct? 205/50 on the MCS 16" rims.

I have the 205/50 R16 Yokohama AVS ES100's installed on my 16" MINI R84 V-spokes and I like them a lot. We haven't had much rain around here, but they have performed very nicely. Also, the AVS tires were good for a 2 second advantage on the track in our recent testing over the stock run-flats.

So Dan is saying the Kumho's are the best in the dry and the Yokos are the best in the wet. And since he puts the Yokos second in the dry...that pretty much seals the deal. I've had performance tires in the past that scared me to death in the rain. I'll never go thru that grief again!

Yokohama AVS Es100 here I come!

Do they really screech, as Randy would say, like a "cat in heat" though??

Depending on inflation pressure, ambient air temperature, and surface type, just about every tire can make some noise. It would have to be one serious kitty!

I've got the Yokos and have driven through some monsoons down
here in Florida and they have been outstanding. On Saturday, on a closed
course and dry I smoked them all the way through first and second. I'll be
taking them around the road course at Roebling Road this weekend and it
should be dry...I'll let you know how they do...

Cool! I was pricing it out, and even though the Yokos are only available via the Delaware warehouse for shipment to me in OR, the price was within a few bucks of getting the Kumhos from the Nevada warehouse.

Everyone appears to keep pointing me to the Yokos though...and I do have to admit I have issues with Korean built things (Kumho). Please don't tell me Yokos are Korean, too. Japanese, no?

Now my question to DiD. I have the R83 16" 5 Spokes. I'm thinking of getting a set of the Yokohama AVS ES100 also. Am I correct in assuming they will fit my rims?

To expand on what Alex said a little...

All the MINI 16" wheels are 6.5" wide. So if you have any of the MINI 16" wheels, then the 205/50 R16 AVS ES100's will fit. I got mine from the Tire Rack.

I replaced my run flats with the Kumhos, excellent tires in the wet or dry. Others have commented that their tread doesn't look 'cool' like other tires - that whole thing is lost on me - for 'cool'=performance to me - I have Toyo shaved race tires on 17" Fliks or Hoosiers on 15" Koenig monos. The 712s do ride much better than the run flats, and are so good in the rain that I use them for wet track tires.
