I haven't been too pleased with the Pirelli's either. I've experienced tread squirm on grooved roads, plus they squeal LOUD at the slightest slip angle
A positive, however, is their progressive at-limit breakaway. They are quite predictable. They are also pretty good in rain, though not excellent.

I'm trying the Yokohama AVS ES100 next, perhaps in a 215/45-17 size (a bit taller than stock).

Cheers,
Ryan

Ryephile, ES 100s were my choice including the size. Very sticky compared to the Pirellis. Seem to be holding up a lot better too!

are the Yokohama AVS ES100's run flats?
or are you going with "fix-a-flat" and roadside assistence plan?

I really like mine now that they are off my car and stacked up in my garage. Went with Toyo Proxes and like the ride much better.
