Flik Wasp Wheels??

I've been looking at the Flik Wasp wheels (saw a few pictures on here and really like them). Then I looked them up and they only seem to come in Arthracite (or whatever they call them....gray). I've tried e-mailing edgeracing.com but they never get back to me. Does anyone know if they come in silver with the polished lip also? I'd like to get the 18's, but they don't have the correct bolt pattern for the Mini. I guess that means 17's, but then they don't come in SILVER!!! Anyone know anything else that looks similar, but comes in silver for about the same price and the same weight (under 20 lbs).

Are you serious?

Have you gone and looked at Edgeracings site? They are clearly listed on their site

You can get the ASA AR1, which is very similar in look (not sure about weight) , from Tirerack. They come in black center, silver or chrome I think:

D_Nyholm,

When I went to:
http://edgeracing.com/wheels/flik/
and looked at the Flik Wasp in silver
I only found 18x7.5" and 5x100 or 5x112 bolt patterns with et 33mm weight of 22 pounds and price of $188 each.

This won't fit the MINI unless you change from a 4x100 bolt pattern to a 5 bolt hub.

At tirerack.com (talk to alex@tirerack.com)
The ASA AR1 (one piece (rivets for appearance only, LP cast/shot peened, +42mm offset) comes in:
Chrome Plated
17x7" $279 in stock 22.1 pounds each +42mm offset
18x7.5" $319 in stock 23.8 pounds each, +38mm offset, 215/35-18 tires

Silver with machined lip
17x7" $179 in stock 20.7 pounds each +42mm offset
18x7.5" $219 in stock 22.5 pounds each +38mm offset

BBS RGR 1 piece fully forged offset +38mm 16.3 pounds each
17x7 $553 each, in stock, Bright silver paint finish

THanks for all the help eVal and minihune. It looks like I might have to start looking at something different. Those ASA's are looking pretty nice, and the BBS.... Don't think it is worth it IMHO to save a few extra pounds and get a stronger wheel since I won't be autocrossing or tracking this car too much....

r13ater...of course I am serious. Read my thread and then see what I clearly wrote there and how it isn't available on edgeracing.com.

weight savings on wheels is a big deal on this car especially when it comes to
braking. accleration wise, probably won't be able to tell a difference...but
when it comes to braking, totally different story. I would opt for the
lighter wheel.

I got my fliks from ER. They are the 18's with the 4 bolt pattern. Try calling them, they were very helpful. The light silver must be new, they only had the anthracite and black when i purchased.

I just bought a set from them, I also bought tires so I am not sure if that makes a difference or not.

On my purchase they included hubcentric rings, lug nuts and the tires were properly mounted and ballanced. They were also nicely packaged and arived in a timely manner, not to mention the price was good.

I'm going to buy the Flik Wasp Anthracite 17" wheels soon, but I am having trouble determining a good tire.

you will have to base your choice on what you want from the tire.

Do you only drive on the street, does it rain alot, will you do track days, what is more important, overall grip ot tire noise, do you have another set of tires for bad weather/track days, how long do you need/expect them to last ?

There is a million questions you need to ask ourself before buying tires. With that said on my MSC I have had 3 sets of tires now.

Falcon 512's, nice and smooth, quiet and good traction, also decent in rain. We have a set of these on our cooper now with about 7K on them and they still look almost new.

Kuhmo MX, I still have this set mounted on my other rims, decent ride, great traction when heated up, marginal in wet weather. Dont ecpect them to last forever though. Overall I would recomend this as a good overall tire for someone who doesnt need them to last forever and puts the car on the track or autocross a couple times through the life of the tire.

Falcon 615, I have only gotten a few miles on them so far but I like what I have seen so far. Grip is good, they ride about the sae as the kuhmo's but I doubt they will be as good in the wet.

danielg - I intent on driving all year long on those wheels so I went with falkens, Toyo Proxes 4 also good but I would not drive with those in the winter. Hankook on the other side has some bad reviews..
detlman - getting the package so I my hope is to get them mounted and balanced at the time of purchase...

Yes, the wheels come with everything needed. I was having problems with the supplied plastic hubcentric rings and ended up ordering metal ones from discount. They would vibrate alot. The lug bolts are not very good quality, and the chrome started flaking off and rusting. I ended up using the stock lug bolts, they work fine. I am completely impressed with both of my Falken tires. I have the Ze 512's as my street tires, they are AWSOME in the rain AND AWSOME in the dry. I could not ask for a better tire. I also have the rt-615's for racing. They are so grippy, and im not out of the street tire class in auto x.

Where would be a good place to buy those metal hubcentric rings?
(Btw just placed an order for Flik/Wasp (anthracite) & Falken/Ziex Ze 512!!!)

Nice!! Thanks for showing me those. I like them, though I have no idea how much they weigh. I guess i'll have to do a little nosing around to figure that one out. Unfortunately, they don't come in 7.5" wide, so 215's might be the limit of them, but it seems like 215's are the limit of the car anyway....

i just bought and installed the flik wasp in anthracite 17" last week. actually drove out to CO. a day later. they did come with everything you need to swap out the old wheels. i love the look of them myself and think for the price you can't go wrong. i went with the hankook ventus sport k104 tire though. so far so good. i find they are working great for me which was a few days in the mountains, some wet otherwise all street driving. they seem to grip great and hold the road for me on the corners. no complaints about them from me.
the wheel looks better in person then it does on the web, and they look good on the web. i think they are a great wheel, and for me the tire is great. just thought i would chime in.
later

That is why I like buying wheels from Discounttire and tirerack. They send them with the correct metal hubcentric rings and some decent locking lug nuts for free. I've been using my lugnuts on my other car for about 2 years now and they are still perfect and shiny. That is with an impact gun going on them about once a month also as I change my tires/wheels!!
