has anyone tried them on track, how do they perform? I just put a set of 17" on my MCS and I"ll bring them to track tomorrow, anything to watch out?

I've used the 205/40/17 TOYO RA1'a for about 8 track days. Did you have them shaved? If not you'll find them the best on the 6th day. Tire pressure should be cold 38 front, 34 rear. That's if you already have a rear sway bar. With the same tire pressure on all four you'll find alot of oversteer. What else have you done to your MINI?

I use them and think they are great. I use the 205/40/17, which is about the lightest one made.
I had mine shaved to 4/32. Did you have yours shaved. If not then I don't know how they perform that way, but shaved they are a great track tire.
The tire is very predictable and they do still squeal a bit when pushed.
I find a good tire pressure when cold is about 36 front and 38 rear. Depending on what track you drive you may find that the right and left sides will be different.
Mark the tires when done with the track day and rotate them for the next track day. Once shaved they are bi-directional.
You can see how they perform in the video in my sig. Note that most of the squealing is because this track has concrete repairs, so they squeal on that.
Curious what size you are have.

Thanks for the prompt replies I'm going to Mosport international raceway (Ontario, Canada) tomorrow, I've 205/40/17 too, didn't shave them. I'm now running 33 cold front and rear, should I do some adjustments?

onasled,

nice video.

I've the following mods done to my MCS :

15% Mini madness pulley
K&N typhoon intake
AmD one click
Milltek headers & cat-back
Schrick cam
Kw V2 coilovers
Stoptech BBK ( Pagid black race pads)
Stoptech rear brake lines
17" x 7.5 SSR Comp type C
205/40/17 Toyo RA1
Racing Dynamics front tower bar

No sway bars?

Let me know how you like them unshaved. They do ride better then my AVS100s. I might suggest you drive them on the street and get them worn down as fast as you can.

Also, anyone looking for these tires should go here. http://www.bmwwheels.com/

LOL!

Love the new video Onasled. I've never been to LRP, but it looked ilke you never even got a chance to set up a normal turn-in for 1 cause you were always taking somebody inside on the straight! *NICE* I assume it was a PCA event? What group were you running with?

I've always derived a certain satisfaction from blowing by people in my 3300 pound 1.78L family sedan but I think it will be even sweeter when I get my little Mini putt-putt.

I started with 33 cold this morning and sky rocket to 45 after the first session. Maybe I didn't have them shaved and the first session was quite slippery, then I lowered them to 40 after that, it was quite good through out the day, but I noticed the outer tread of my left front tire worn down pretty quick, is that normal worn down quick on Toyo RA1s?

You must have been running clockwise. Also if you don't have camber plates and negitive camber you'll wear the outside edge. I rotated my RA1's after 2 days front to rear. After 6 session iI had the tires flipped on the rims and remounted. Just keep good tabs on the tires. If you 've never used a R compound tire before don't expect them to wear anything like street tires. RA1's have a wear rating of less than 100 and your street tires something like 250-270. Rotate, rotate, rotate

ive heard only good things from randy's own camberplates... otherwise h-sport makes a set that is excellent for your car..... knowing how low your car is really helps!
