Proxes t-1 vs Eagle F1GS3D vs SO3 Poles

From posts and comments the Bridgestone's and Goodyear's seem very comparable but, since Tirerack doesn't sell Toyos there are no comments.

Any one driven the Toyos and one of the others and can compare them?

Which of the three is lightest?

I have slightly different Toyos as OEM on my wife's Mazdaspeed and I'm quite impressed with them as a road tire.

My F1 GS-D3s will arrive this afternoon. I'll post comments as soon as I have them mounted and balanced .

See this thread for tire weights:

I have recently put on a set of Toyo T-1s on my 03 MCS, I'm quite happy with them. They are an incredable improvement over the runflats. I have heard several people say that they really like the Toyo T-1s, however I have heard that the Goodyears are really good also.

See this thread for tire weights:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ead.php?t=2152[/QUOTE]Unfortunately, it is a Tirerack site so it does not have info on Toyos. But Toyos website does.

For a 205/50/16 tire:

Bridgestone = 23#
Goodyear = 22#
Toyo = 19.4#

The Toyo T1S is by far lightest but aren't the best in performance. Check edgeracing.com for prices

The S-03s and Eagles are quite good and make up for their weight with superior traction.

Further, the higher priced S-03s have a comfortable, smooth and quiet ride which is quite nice. Wet weather traction is excellent in the S-03 and for the Eagles.

For the Toyo in the size at which I was looking, Online is $5.00 per tire cheaper and $22 cheaper for shipping four (Of course it depends on where you live for the shipping)

I've driven both the GS3Gs and the T-1ssand it's not even close....

I'd get the goodyears any day any way. The toyos have a slight advantange in turn in, but the goodyears are so much nicer at the edge. I'm not sure if the traction is that much better, but the transition from full rolling to controlled drift to loosing it and having to really correct for, uh, unintended car motions (never in the goodyears) was real soft and predictible with the goodyears, and not with the Toyos. The toyos are scary in a serious rain, and the goodyears drive like it's still dry. I'll never get the Toyos again. I may reconsider if I go to a summer tire/winter tire set up, but where I live there's really no need. I haven't driven the S-03s yet, but they seem to cost more than the goodyears, and the reviews I've read don't give them much, if any, edge.

It's possible that a better driver than me (I'm not that good) would not mind such an abrupt transition from control to holy cr*p!

I run 215/40-17s......

I use the Toyos for my summer tires and in the D.C. area summer is when we get plenty of heavy rains. I find them to be excellent wet weather tires. At the Dragon last year they proved to be a blast on all the twisties in the area and driving home from that trip the first 100 miles of highway driving were in heavy rain conditions. I felt complete confidence.

I have not tried goodyear so I can not compare.

The Toyo Proxes R28 that are OEM on the Mazdaspeed appear to have a tread pattern similar to the T-1s. They were terrific in the dry, we got caught in monsoon type rain, with standing water, and they were great and we went through the mountains where the rain turned to snow and they were very good there, too.

I went from Runflats, to S03, to Toyo, to Cooper, now back to Toyo T1s...the toyos are my fav so far...they look good, are good in the wet (I live in Houston) and last significantly longer than the Bridgstones...the coopers suck (Cooper Tyres...not MiniCOOPER )

Looking for more input...

Anyone compare the wet traction of the T1-Ss with the S-03s? Many seem to like the T1-S wet traction (I didn't) but none of the others drove both the Goodyears and the Toyos. The Goodyears and the S-03s both have some of the best wet reviews out there.....
