r53 jcw front pistons

r53 jcw front pistons are extremely difficult to retract. so I pulled the boot and gasket and piston out and would like to know what abrasive to use to clean the piston and chamber. These sat dry for many years with the previous owner. I have seen videos of mechanics using their hands to retract the piston ....I am not there yet ..Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Emory cloth and be careful. If they are corroded very bad or pitted they might not seal with the new seals replaced.
