New Wheels Suggestion

Hi

I own a 2017 Clubman JCW came with 19 inch tyres.

I am planning to change my tyres and wheels.

For tyres I am thinking to go for Michelin Sports 4s 245/35/19. Will it be a good one?

And for wheels I am little confused as I dont have much knowledge in cars and worried about the size. I have gone through some videos and wheels specs. For my car I think I should go for 19 inch wheel size with 8.5J 5 X 112 ET57. Is it right? I was looking for OZ wheels but couldnt find ET57 size.

I appreciate your help and suggestion in acquiring new wheels an tyres.

Thanks in Advance
Badri M

so a comfortable ride is more important that sporty handling
Do not go to 19" as the lower profile will not be as comfortable as the OE 17" (and taller) tires. That is unless you have the adaptive suspension, aka "dynamic damper control".

If you go to tirerack.com and use your 2017 Clubman JCW and look at options for wheels and tires you get:

19x8" or 19x8.5" et44 to 48 in 5x112 with 225/35-19 tires for OEM suspension.

For Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 300 treadwear, non runflat
225/35-19 fits wheels 7.5-9" wide, perfect for 8" wide rim, tire diam. 25.2", XL load rated, 88Y

245/35-19 fits wheels 8-9.5" wide, perfect for 8.5" wide rim, tire diam. 25.8", XL load rated, 93Y. This will fit 19" rims OK and will close the wheel gap with OEM suspension however it is wide especially when fitted on wider than OEM rims so if you lower suspension you may have little clearance on the wheel arches. If you have a fully adjustable suspension you can lower just enough to allow for clearance on wide wheel/tires.

35 series sidewalls and XL load rating tires are going to ride firmly so if you have bad roads it might not be the best fit. Overall the Pilot Sport 4S is a good street tire and will perform well.

As for fitment, if you go with 8" wide rims then a 225 mm wide tire is worth a look while with a 8.5" wide rim the 245mm wide tire will fit well and look more aggressive.

Note that wider rims and tires usually mean higher cost and more weight which can affect performance, braking and handling. Less weight is usually better.
