Once the runflats are gone?

Since the MINI doesn't have a spare, what do you all do once the runflats are gone? Spare in a bottle? Donut in the trunk? OK to rely on roadside assistance? Thanks!

I carry a tire repair kit, compressor, and a bottle of fix-a-flat if I need it. All fits in the rear side pockets.

I have a cell phone and AAA plus. Towing is covered up to 100 miles on an island 40 miles wide. I've got about 5 sets of wheels in the garage. I could always get a spare if I could find a way back home.

I have a mini cooper compact spare that I bought used from a wrecking yard. I used it once...luckily it was in the garage and I was able to use my floorjack instead of the jack that comes with the car.

I just got rid of my RF's and joined the "12 volt compressor & bottle of Slime in the boot" club. Agree with what has been said regarding the stock jack; it could create it's own emergency. Besides I'll bet your wheels will be stuck to the hubs like mine and others. Be happy and motor on, .........................mgg

Same thing here, but I have a full size spare I use for road trips.

I carry a Cooper spare that tucks neatly behind the front seat. I never have rear seat passengers so the spare isn't in the way back there and I don't lose any space in the boot. There are some situations where a can of slime or a compressor won't help and I just feel more comfortable knowing I have a spare (though I do carry a compressor as well).

Agree there are times when the "belt and suspenders" approach is worthwhile. For instance driving from Las Vegas to L.A. there is a stretch of I-15 that is almost 100 miles where there is nothing!

Is the Cooper spare a donut or full size?? I wonder what other cars use a donut spare that have the same bolt pattern and hub size, anyone know??.....................mgg

From what I've seen posted around various threads/forums, a Miata spare will work, as well as certain VW and Honda spares. Not sure exactly which VW or Honda spares will work. Try doing a search and you should be able to dig something up.

I know someone who actually ran out of fuel out there towing a trailer with a truck. That vehicle had onstar, and it really worked. Someone was sent out to them carrying 5 gal of fuel! Who knows what that cost!

I've taken the LA to Vegas route on the I-15 many times. I know a lot of it is completely spread out .. but you can get services at least every 50 miles or so.

Yes it is spread out and there are other places in the southwest that are like that too. But the drive from Baker to Barstow has one of the worst reputations for car repair ripoffs. I'd just as soon be self relient and avoid the road sharks.......................mgg

It's from a regular cooper and I bought it for under $50 with shipping from a wrecking yard.

What wrecking yard? I haven't found any with MINIs.

What size is the wheel and tire?
