Anyone have experience with either, or ideally both? Both are UHP Summer

I don't have experience with either tire but know quite a few folks who run the Indy 500 and love them. Many say it's the best bang for your buck budget UHP tire out there.

How will you be driving the car ?

Just a driver.
Occasional canyon fun.
Occasional track car
Weekend track car

Otherwise, for just a driver, most any quality, modern tire will work well.
I've got the Indy 500 tires on an American hot rod. They work fine.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, the good news is that tires in general are great these days.

just put indy 500's on my wifes 86 I really like them (hated the pilot sport 4's it came with)

Does well in mountains and autocross, handles track use without chunking too bad, my last student had them on his e46 and they did great

not gonna grip like a rs4 or the cheater 200tw tires, but they last a lot longer and better in the rain. I've heard they are not very good in cold weather, will see this winter

What was wrong with the
Pilot Sport 4 tires*?
The Pilot Super Sport, Sport 4,
and Sport 4S are all great
summer tires in my book.

*(Unless you’re referring to the
Pilot Sport All Season 4**)

**(Not a bad tire but not fair to
compare directly with UHP or Max
Performance summer tires)

Indy500’s absolutely best bang for the buck! Really good fast street, rain and occasional autox tire.

Summer tires:
If going with 195/55r16 or 205/50r16,
then Indy500.
If 205/55r16, consider the Conti
ExtremeContact Sport.
For 205/45r17, PSS
For 215/45r17, PS4S

pilot spor 4s, they had poor grip, chunked when pressed and part of the tires delaminated

i rate them as ****, will never run them again

I agree that the Firehawk Indy 500 is the best bang for the buck. That's what i have on all of my street cars. The have excellent grip in both the wet and the dry. The only downside is the wear, when they start go, they go quick. I can usually get a year or two out of them on the street.
