APEX ARC-8 17x8" ET25 - INSTALLED

Hey guys,

I finally received my APEX ARC-8 17x8" ET25 wheels in 4x100. I've always wanted to run these since they look great and are much lighter, but was concerned about the aggressive offset. I took a risk, and with a shorter tire, the result is fantastic! I paired them with 205/40-17 Federal ST-1 tires, and the stretch is very minimal. I have a set of MeisterR coilovers and adjustable rear control arms that will be going on the car within the next 3 weeks which will complete the look. Currently I have ZERO rubbing, but will need to dial in some negative camber once its lowered. I ceramic coated the wheels with CQuartz in order to aid with cleaning in the future.

Anyways, on to the pictures!

Looks good but it has to get DOWN. Watch the camber.

I completely agree! I have a set of MeisterR coilovers w/ camber plates and adjustable rear control arms sitting in my garage ready to be installed. Will probably have some time in about 3 weeks to install them. Can't wait as this wheel gap is killing me!

Lowered! No rubbing so far. Still want to dial in the ride height in the rear, but happy with the result so far.

Looks great! Do you have someone around you that can corner balance it?

Thanks! Have an appointment set for July to have my car aligned and corner balanced. May dial in the rear height a bit more, but really happy with the result so far. I do need to drill a hole to get to my rear dampening adjustment *****, but should have everything sorted soon. Have a track day in August, so will have everything taken care of within the next couple weeks or so.

Lowered the rear a bit more, and had my alignment done. Currently at -1.7 degrees up front, and -2.6 degrees in the rear. The rear rubbed slightly on large bumps, but I shaved a bit of the plastic and hasn't rubbed since. It's finally sitting how I envisioned it

I am SO jealous of you right now!! Ive been wanting these wheels and was told they stopped making the 4x100 size. When did you get these, was this from a recent order you placed with Apex?

I got them through the recent APEX group buy bringing back their 4x100 wheels. You can see it here here. They will likely do another group buy in 2019 since they had a lot of demand. I would definitely jump on the next group buy if you can. I think the wheels are a perfect fit for the Mini

Hey Matt,

If you don't mind me asking, what did you end up paying for these? They do look great

Appreciate it! MSRP is $275 ($1,100 for a set) each for these on their website here. Group Buy pricing was $200 off a set of wheels.

Took the Mini on track for this first time this weekend at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, CA. My friend snapped some great shots while we were in the paddock.

I don’t comment often, but I do when I see such proper fitment as this. One of the best looking aftermarket setups I’ve seen on a Mini. Very well done. Love the flat face of those.

Wow thank you so much for the kind words! I'm really happy the way everything came together. I hope more people end up running these wheels as I think they are a perfect fit for the Mini.

Yeah that width and offset is perfect. Will those wheels accept MINI center caps?

I’m not sure... these wheels were technically produced for the BMW E30. But I believe that you can use the OEM MINI sticker on top of the current caps to achieve the look. Can’t confirm though.

They look amazing. I wonder if a 215/40 Federal 595 RSRR would fit w/o too much rubbing. They'd be a lot faster on track.

If fenders weren't an issue I'd love the 17X8.5s.

Thanks! The 595 RSRR do run quite wide, so a 215/40-17 would require quite a bit more negative camber and more of a fender trim in the rear to get those to clear. Doable, but I did not want to run that much camber. Also the RSRR is a very loud tire, so not something I wanted to deal with on a daily basis. However, you're absolutely right. it would perform much better on track! However, the ST-1's handled surprisingly well. It was only on session 4 where they got a bit hot and I started slipping a bit.

I'd love the concave 8.5' wheels as well, but not enough clearance unfortunately. I did see a guy with an R56 use fender flares with the 17x8.5" ET20 and they looked great!
