cut thread
cut tread
I have a cut tread that caused my tire to go flat. Since it will be patched will it be safe to use on an occassional autocross? I know I won't be using it on the track or anything high speed.
Where exactly is the cut and how big? Usually tire places can only repair
up to about 1/4size hole.
I think I would be just as worried if I auto-x'ed on them. You can
probably use it on the street if the tireplace can patch it up, but I
would put the tire on the rear and drive casually.
One of my rear GS-D3's have a 1/4" size hole which my tire place
patched up about 5k miles ago. It's fine and working great, but I have
a brand new unmounted tire in the basement just in case. My hole
was in the middle of the tire where the largest threads meet each other...
so it is very well reinforced.

The cut is right on the thread in the center of the tire(!~!!)and it's about the size of a head of a small nail. It just sliced it at the right angle I guess. Sucks too..oh well
yah, tire problems do drive me nuts too..
but on the ligher side, the tire sounds patchable.

Just got it back..patched...$48.99
$17.50 charge for a custom rim and I think they still put a slight nick in it. Anyway, that's life, and it's emergency so you gotta pay. And they wonder why their business has gone down!
